I went to this buffet and chowed down on nothing but the littleneck clams. I thought for farm raised, they were pretty good. Anyone else share my experience?

My husband loves the clams, and my brother LOVES the mussels.
Following our honeymoon in 2002, DH has requested this to be a "must do" on all of our vacations. I know the restaurant has gotten some bad reviews, but we've always enjoyed Cape May Cafe!

We go everytime we are there. We love it. Great selection and the clams are great too.

@Well, it looks like I may be paying another visit there next time, even though I come from the land of clams(near cape Cod).

My hubby loves seafood. Me, I can't eat it. I like to go places he can enjoy too. I read on allearsnet that there are non seafood items. Are they pletiful and good?

We are from New England and we won't go to the clam bake again..isn't exactly what a "traditional NE clambake" is.
We were very disappointed....but that is just our experience.

:wizard: My 6 year old daughter LOVES clams!! LOL She can eat dozens at a time. Yuck!! :confused3 I have never been but I think next trip we will go. Hubby wants to try it and I know my DD will enjoy it. She's actually already been when she was 2. I skipped it that trip. LOL :sunny: Rebecca

I'm the only one who eats seafood in my family and my kids don't have any problem with Cape May. They have a carving station and plenty of non-seafood items that he really liked. Believe me, if he wasn't happy there we wouldn't be there. :lmao:

We love Cape May Cafe. Last time we went, December 23, was extremely crowded and hard to get your food, but the food was as great as ever and the clams and mussels were very good. I lived in New England for six years and thought the clams were as good as any bucket of steamers I had there.

My husband loves seafood/fish too and I hate it. Clam bake had great food for both of us.

We were reluctant to have dinner here as the name put us off, we dont eat much seafood. Still we had a great meal and found lots we like. I think the name can be off putting for those who dont find clams appealing but it is a great buffet.

just finally decided to do Coral Reef instead for our seafood night. Now I'm not sure again!!! Please help me!! DS & I love clams - he loves mussels - DH & DD not seafood eaters!! Oh, and are the clams "steamers" like the ones I dig for at the Cape? Or the "hard shell" variety? This will be deciding point with me.

We ate there in Nov '04. My dh had been bugging me for quite awhile to eat there...so when my dad and step-mom drove up to visit us, we decided we would eat there. Now, we are all from NE....so were looking forward to some good seafood. I don't eat seafood but I knew I would have plenty to choose from, which I did. But, the meal, on the whole, left the rest of my group cold. It was just 'okay'. However, there was a guy at the table behind us who really enjoyed his mea!!!!! I don't know which it was...clams, mussels, but it was in a terrific smelling garlic sauce, and this guy must have gone back to the buffet and refilled on those puppies 7 times. My step-mom gave this guys wife a thumbs up and the other woman just grinned and said he was a bit piggy!!!! But he certainly enjoyed himself.
Would we go back? I don't think so. But we sure did all love the dessert table!!!

Sorry to be a downer, but my family did NOT enjoy the clam bake at Cape May. We stayed at BC in 2004 and ate there twice for the clam bake. I thought the food was cold, and the seafood lacked taste and variety. Also, there was no line like one would expect for a buffet. People just cut in front of everyone else, making the polite people in the restaurant wait that much longer for the cold food. People were putting their hands all over the food. Maybe I was just there for the Pigs Convention that week, but our experience there was pretty bad both times. The first time we went was for my daughter's first birthday. The waitstaff did a great job bringing the cake out, etc., and we enjoyed that portion of that meal. But the food was just not at all appetizing. We decided to give it another try, and it was, if anything, worse the second time around.
