Are you on the rich-list?

We are not on the list. But I guess to me that is a good thing. We bought a 2200sqft home with an attached garage and a 6 car attached heated workshop for only 130,000.

Nope, but it's not a big surprise. We live on the outskirts of the county where Cleveland is located and since Cleveland has been on many of the poorest cities lists lately, I'm sure it's not helping our median income for the county. :)

My county is on the list -- I knew it would be in the top 100. We have some of the highest property taxes and some very wealthy areas.

My county is ranked 521 in the country and number 20 for the state (NY) Not too rich, whcih is not a surprise to me.

I knew mine wouldn't be given we have the city of Columbus taking up the majority of it. I think that just balanced out anything the other cities & suburbs would do ;) But the county just north of where I live is... and that is NOT a shock! Given the housing just outside of the city of Columbus, I wasn't shocked at all to see that! Their numbers sound about what I expect of my city where I live.

Yes it is, and pretty high up there too. :faint:

Wonder why all the houses keep getting bigger and bigger. And they keep complaining that all the recent college grads are leaving. Well duh! When the cheapest shack is $350,000, and you have over $50,000 in student loans, and you make minimum wage, it is impossible to stay here.

Wow that is sobering. Nope my county didn't make the top 100, we rank #137. But where I work is #40. . But I guess I'd rather make my money there then bring it home to my less expensive community...not a bad trade....

We're #80 on the list. No wonder I can't afford a house!

I agree - although I adore, ADORE my neighborhood - the thought of spending $500,000 for a 2 b/r ranch?!?!? No way....

And our area is filled with Victorian's - gorgeous houses, with a lot of modest homes (cape cods, etc) scattered throughout. The modest ones are being sold left and right as tear downs, and it makes me so sad! Theyre adorable homes!

So, now you can drive down a side street and see big gorgeous old Victorians, with big massive HUGE obnoxious new homes, right next to them. :sad2:

Yep, Montgomery County, MD, #15 on the first list, #16 on the second, #13 on the third list. No wonder my children will likely never be able to afford to live here (and no, they are no living with me! :) ).

We're in the "Up County", so not as expensive as closer to DC. However, we're in a planned community, so more expensive than the towns around us. It's really exploded in value in the last several years and there is no way that we'd be able to afford our house if we were to want to buy it today.

Ours is on the list, Will County, IL (we just have a lot there right now) We are in Dupage also!

The prices out this way are crazy, we bought our lot right before things started to get crazy in Will (dumb luck or are we real smart...you decide)

I know a couple that just sold a split level they bought for 250k in Darien about 3 years ago for 400k this week. Its nuts.

I'm sure there would be some major changes if the census data was updated to present time. This is kinda old info (2000) but it is interesting.

#97 on the list. The only county in NH. Doesn't really surprise me. Starter homes in my town are $400-$500k, with a lot of new homes going for $700k. I can assure you, our house doesn't go for any of those values

I understand. All the homes here started as little 800 sq ft homes. Some people dormered the upstairs but the houses were still a normal size and fit in with the town. Around the block from me someone renovated their house to be a 3 story house that takes up the entire plot of land. Now it is a nice looking house but it looks ridiculous compared to all the others. Another house built 1 loooooong house on the plot of about 2 houses. It is short and very long with no dimension to it. It looks like a childs building block. Honostly, it is ugly and out of place.

Also, people are building houses that look like they belong in Florida. They have the spanish roofing and the stucco! In the NE, this looks horrid. Of course these houses are enormous too. So you have a small ranch next to a huge, grey stucco house with spanish roofing. It looks so out of place. I really don't get it.

Oh no...we're on there too...about half way. Guess that explains the $1000/month rent for a 2br/1bath , maybe 900-1000sqft. :guilty:

None of the sixteen counties in Maine are on the rich-list. Heck, I don't even think Maine is part of the United States. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Whenever the weather is given on the national news it always seems like the weather person stops at Boston. Occasionally, there will be a haphazard wave of the hand indicating 'the northeast'. I guess that would be us. :confused3

Youre getting a deal! ;)

Im paying 1200/mo - for a 2 b/r - 1 ba, which we took the "family room" off the garage and made it bedroom #3. I dont have a closet. :guilty:

#15 on the county list. The ranking didn't surprise me at all, but the median income did (so low!!)
