what are your favorite events?

I live in Maine. I don't DO winter sports, but I like WATCHING them!

I'm looking forward to curling up on the couch next month, on cold, snowy evenings, and participating vicariously with the athletes. I'll also be eating junkie food and drinking soda. They can't, but I can! :teeth:

In addition to the opening ceremonies, my favorite events to watch include:

freestyle skiing
ski jumping
snowboarding
figure skating

I would be looking forward to it if they showed more of the competitions and less of those time consuming feature stories! We like: skiing (all kinds), luge, bobsled, figure skating and hockey. I don't like ice dancing. It's not interesting to me if they don't do the hard stuff.

BIG Olympics fans here, but we like the Summer Games a bit better than the winter ones.

We'll be watching Alpine skiing, speed skating, figure skating, bobsled.

I like to watch, DH just goes along with it. I love the opening and closing ceremonies. Also the skating and skiing. And luge. I love the luge!

I kind of like the features and background stories, but I know what you mean.

I love watching figure skating, hockey (preferably men's but I'll watch both), and cross country skiing.

I love the Winter Olympics. They're way more fun for me to watch than the Summer.

My favorites:
figure skating/ice dancing
luge
bobsled
downhill skiing
ski jumping
speed skating

Atleast when the Olympics are on there is something always to watch. Sometimes I find myself turning on the TV and finding nothing to watch and instead watching a DVD.

I like watching:

luge
bobsled
downhill skiing
ski jumping
speed skating
hockey

Is it just me or is this Olympics not getting as much hype as the Athens summer Olympics did? Are the summer Olympics always more popular?

But yes, I'll be watching! :cheer2:

I love watching the figure skating. Sasha Cohen better win that Gold Medal, she is so beautiful on the ice.

We love the fast track speed skating, they skate around the hockey rink instead of the speed staking rink. The blades are very long. My daughter sort of has a crush on the hunky American Apolo Anton Ohno....I must admit, he is adorable..:)

I will watch it every single night and probably sometimes during the day on MSNBC. Believe it or not, I even enjoy the curling events. :cool1:

I don't watch much TV, almost none most of the time, but I do watch the Olympics. I will be curled up on the couch working on a quilt. I am going to finish this one THIS YEAR! :thumbsup2

I was working on DD13's quilt during the Olympics several years ago, was working on DD11's quilt during the 2002 (was that Sydney?) and now I'm making one for my niece, that I am determined to finish by this summer for her anniversary (it was supposed to be a wedding gift)

Besides the opening and closing ceremonies, figure skating, bobsled, downhill skiing are my favorites.

And I still love the movie Cool Runnings, even though I read a lot about it and found out the movie was pretty far off from the real life situation.

Oh, heck ya! And this year, I have TIVO!!!! :teeth:

My dream is to compete in the Olympics, but I guess they require you have some sort of athletic ability. They're funny like that.

So, my real dream is to actually GO to the Olympics to see them in person someday.

Fav events:

Opening and closing ceramony (most people think they're boring, I live for pagents!).
Skiing (any kind) and ski jumping (you should get a medal just for being brave enough to DO this!)
Figure skating (but not ice dancing)
anything that happens on the bobsled run

I am really looking forward to watching the Olympics. My favorite events are

Figure skating (no ice dancing)
Bobsled
Luge
Opening ceremonies
Skiing

i really love the olympics, the summer ones are more interesting but i know what you mean about curling up on the couch to watch snow and ice events..my fav would be the ice skating, and dancing.then the skiing events and luge...the curling cracks me up...what the heck is the point?????

I definitely will NOT watch the opening ceremonies. Its up against the final (?) 4 episodes of Arrested Development.

The only thing I'm gonig to watch religiously is Curling. I honestly think it is a very fascinating sport to watch. I'm sure its harder than it looks, but I'd love to try it someday. I just love the strategy behind it, and I was hooked on it back in the 2002 games.

I may turn other things on when nothing else is on TV, but for me, its all about the curling. And for those that think Curling is silly and pointless, give it a try and watch it, its a great event.

I can't wait for the Olympics to start. My favorite event is Figure Skating, mens and womens. I hope Irina Slutskaya and Evgeny Plushenko win the gold. IMO, they deserved the gold medal in the last Olympics. :cheer2:

I don't really enjoy the pairs or ice dancing much.
