exactly! i think there is nothing wrong with that word. i have friends who have special need brothers, and they go around calling people ********. 4 out of 5 people dont get offended, and yes i did take a poll. so why does it really matter?

that is exactly how i spell my daughters name, i thought it was so original, it was after a good professor i had in college

Well, the fact is that some people ARE offended by the word.

I think that it's sad that the OP's response was basically "tough, too bad, constitutional rights....bla bla bla"

I check the boards every day for our wonder trip in 12 days and our WDW trip right after that. Yes, I am adicted and proud of it.

I'm addicted to these boards as well. Reading this board hypes me up for our first DCL trip in 5 months. I find myself reading the same threads over and over (especially the best tips thread). My husband thinks I'm going coo-coo but I bet when our trip gets closer he'll be asking me where the tips thread is. LOL!

Ok, I guess you WOULD say I am addicted, I check the boards probably 10 times a day, just to check the threads I'm interested in. (yes, work is mostly boring) lol. Our next cruise is 4-23-05 can't wait. I think a good question to add to this thread is "WHO HATES THE COUNTDOWN THING" I wouldn't even call these things a clock, I want to see the hours and minutes, and yes I SAID THE WORD "HATE". Now, I'll be waiting for the response from that one or two people on these boards who always seem to find something offensive. This thread was started just for fun I'm sure, you people who find something offensive, DO NOT POST ON THAT THREAD! That would send the same message to the thread starter. You all CAN NOT believe that this person was trying to be rude or offensive when she asked her simple questions. Get a GRIP, loosin up, stop being so SENSITIVE. Its people like U who are trying to ruin the positiveness of this board.THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, you could say that I check in here a bit often (just about everyday at work when I take my lunch break and then maybe once in the evening if I turn on the computer).

I now have a new "don't spend the entire day on the Dis cruise board" tool that I use at home ... I set a timer for 15 minutes. So I get my Dis fix and move on!

What does dismay me is seeing exchanges such as the one that has taken place in this thread. Not terribly magical...

Okay... it's now off to cleaning the house in an attempt to make it look as nice as our DVC rooms! Where's Sorcerer Mickey when you need him?

I Liked your message and i could really care less what they think and the comments they make, i have let the issue go yet other coninue to wheel it on with their little comments and snickers and that is fine i could get really ignorant about it, but i will continue to be intelligent and sensible on the issue and just ignore the attention seekers, this is a fun thread and a fun board and i would HATE to have it any other way because that would be just STUPID to let these things UPSET me or make me INSANE

I agree, this board should remain positive. I'm beginning to feel like I'm in an alternate universe here, though.

The appropriate response when someone says that they find something offensive, and then outline why they find it offensive, and that others might find it offensive is to say "Wow, I'm sorry that I offended you, I certainly didn't mean to. Thank you for making me aware of this."

The responses defending the OP for his post is what I find so darn bizarre. And of course, I've come to realize that the OP couldn't care less that they've been hurtful.

I wish everyone a HAPPY and MAGICAL trip.

I'm sorry if I offended anyone.

Now let's move on, and try not to be hurtful to one another.

My 2 cents is that I feel that OP started a thread re: being addicted to the Boards. Which was a very good question.

OP did not call any names or direct it at anyone in particular or directly at anyone - it was just a question. She has many hundreds of posts and of a very kind and nice nature.

Had Post #5 not been posted - by a new member - which we are always happy to see join us - that we would not be in this situation of discussing the use of words that are offensive.

Poster #5 could have PM'd the OP with her feelings, if it was so strong. I looked up Poster #5's responses and threads started and I can see a pattern here. Apparently Poster #5 has a special needs child and she is very sensitive with the world around her.

If she reads a book that has offensive words in it, does she write the author and ask her not to use certain words, that it is offensive to her and then she would read the book once the words are removed??

So, if you read something that offends you, just read it, go forward and HAVE A HAPPY DAY, unless it is directed at you directly.

Just my 2 cents - I think the Boards are awesome and EVERYONE is courteous and kind and gentle and respects the other person and we try to help others that are in need. That is what makes it a wonderful place to be a part of.
