I live in Cleveland and can't wait for him and his ego to be gone. I love all the doom and gloom people who think it will collapse our economy. It goes to show how small we think here at times. I have an idea, attempt to lure the headquarters of a large company here which will bring with it thousands of good jobs instead of worry about some bars losing a little cash because the front-running fans won't go to games without the new Jesus playing for our team.

I agree and I think it will end up being a farewell party for Ohio tonight. I used to really like him and he is a great player, but I can't stand his ego anymore. And another thing, marry your baby mama already! The ONLY reason I kinda want him to stay is because my husband's company does his landscaping and it's a HUGE account, but I have a feeling he'll keep the house regardless since he's from the area. I don't know anyone else in Akron with the cash to buy that compound.

That is only if you allow the new cycle to determine what is important. It has been about 50 years since the was the case. Based on that the most important thing in the world is who celebrities and athletes sleep with and what they do in their spare time.

I will be watching the announcement up at my volleyball game and will probably be the only one cheering when the words out of his mouth are anything other then Cleveland. A man who throws a ball into a basket (and isn't actually even from Cleveland contrary to what so many people say) just isn't that important, even if he inflates himself to make it appear as though he is.

actually its not doom and gloom at all, its true! Cleveland cavs suck without lebron, when he is in town people buy the jerseys and cavs appearal because of him, the stores that sell them then stay busy, also like you said bars and resturants make money by having people show up to watch games there.

Also they almost sell out every game which in return means the arena needs to hire more works for concessions, cealning crew, souvenior store etc...

when it comes to playoffs you will have fans of the other teams visiting and where to they shop, stay and eat???? thats all revenue and jobs for the local economy.


I am not a lebron fan at all, but I think its funny when people dismiss the importance of sports and sports players to thier local economy.

I happen to enjoy basketball very much. In the basketball world this is hugh news. The money this guy will bring to whichever city he goes too will be eye opening.

Is it that hard for you to believe that there are people out here who don't follow sports or celebrities???? I could care less about sports unless my son is playing in the game. I know the names Peyton Manning and Kobe Bryant but not the other two.......Peyton = NFL???? Not sure what sport Kobe played or plays. Sports are just not make it or break for a lot of people...there are "bigger" things to concentrate and care about for me.

I won't be watching for the same reason I have not paid to attend a professional game in over 15 years, I refuse to support the spoiled rich athletes of today. They are making it sound like he is so torn about his decision and it's bringing him so much angst that the poor thing just doesn't know what to do. All the articles are about what his handlers are saying and what they think he will do. Try a real life LeBron, your getting ready to sign a $100 million contract and you already have more money than you will need in a lifetime and I am suppose to care for 10 seconds what your decision will be? Get over yourself and everyone else get over it because tomorrow when I wake up, I still have to go to work, still have bills to pay, and obligations to fufill as do the other 300 million people in this country and the all but one of us will have to do it without the benifit of having just signed a $100 million contract.

An even larger reality check is that a large percentage of people who WANT to go work when they wake up tomorrow won't be able to because they don't have jobs anymore....now there's something to worry and think about........

I live in the same town as Lebron, and yes I have met him several times, though I am positive he doesn't remember me. I think he is a spoiled jerk, and will be thrilled if he leaves. But even those in my family that like him would never think that he is so important that they will remember where they were when...

Not at all, but these days you cant avoid some of this stuff.

You hardley have to watch ESPN or Access Hollywood to hear about lots of these things. They get worked into the National news shows, radio broadcast and the like are not contained to their specialized channels or sections of the newspaper / internet.

For example....I have never in my life watched an episode of John and Kate. Can't imagine wasting time on such as show. However, I know more about them then I ever wanted to just from hearing about them all over the place. If someone posted a thread about Kate Goslin, I'd at least have an idea of who she was. LeBron James is Kate + 1000 on the fame/celebrity scale.
