Yesterday I booked my ADRs. On the first call I booked LeCellier (see other thread). On the next call I booked the following:
Spoodles
Cape May
Kona
Concourse Steakhouse
Chef Mickey's

At which point the CM said "Are you going to the parks? I noticed that all of your ADRs are outside the parks!"
We did add one at 50s PTC--but we are eating 5 of 7 meals outside the parks. I never even considered it before! Truth be told, I think we've eaten at every TS restaurant at MK, and I didn't feel any were worth a TS credit (well I considered CP, but DH didn't think CP was that big a deal last time, albeit "last time" for that one was 2000!) We've done every sit-down in MGM too but 50's PTC was the kids' first choice. There aren't any in AK except Donald's, and we have one in Epcot (we have eaten in others before). All of the out-of park restaurants are close to parks and transportation, either the monorail or walking out of the international gateway of Epcot.
It just seemed like a weird comment for her to make!

I think the best WDW restaurants are in the resorts!! That's where we eat most of our TS meals, too. My all-time favs are CG and Kona, dh LOVES Boma, older ds enjoys CMC, younger ds has to have WCC, and our dd won't miss 1900. That pretty much takes care of us each trip.

I'm with you guys! I love to eat at the resorts. I just find them quieter, with better food. My family, however, doesn't like "traveling" to most of them, so I tend to make ADR's at the resort we're staying at.

generally, I agree that the better places are at the resorts. Except for Epcot. I like the San Angel Inn, Alfredo's, and France (the downstairs one).

One year, many years from now, my children will be grown and I will be able to take a vacation without them. Then I will eat my way around Epcot. Every TS will be a different night. I will stay as many nights as needed to do this. It will be fun and I will be fat but I still plan to do it eventually! I'm not kidding here, I have tried most of the other TS in the parks but my family refuses to eat anything that is not served at home. Boring bunch I live with but I love them!

I agree with you, and everyone else who has posted - although there are a couple of park restaurants we enjoy, our favorites are resort restaurants.

We had the meal plan last June. We spent so much time getting from the parks to our room (to shower, its so hot in June!!) then to the restaurant. We were using the buses. Several times we were running late and had to take a cab at 20 bucks a trip!

I wouldnt do it again using disney transportation.

I think we've got it worked out. Of course the two at the Contemporary and Kona are a snap because we're at the Polynesian. LeCellier and 50s are in parks. We are doing Spoodles on my BDay. My plan for that day is to do MK in the early AM, then leave and go shopping at DD. Then we will take the bus from DD to the Boardwalk for dinner. When we are done at BW (we will look around for a while at the BW area, we stayed there a couple of times)we'll bus from BW to MK and take the monorail back to our hotel.
I've planned Cape May for an Epcot day and we'll just duck out the international gateway entrance.
We've always had our best meals at resorts. We tried LTT once and I thought the turkey was really dry. Tony's and the Plaza were not worth TS credits.

Another fan of the resort restaurants here. :wave2: Our only sit down, must do, in a park is Mama Melrose.

Sorry this is off topic, but I got such a kick out of your picture of Play-do. You see I have a thing about Play-do, it totally skeeves me out. When we go to MGM, my kids make me stand in front of the giant Play-do container at the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground. We've got a few good pictures of me screaming there!

We like doing "resort restaurants" too! I saw you were going to Spoodles. This was one of our best meals when were in WDW last week. We made ADRs the day we wanted to eat there. It was fabulous!!! We shared the shrimp appetizer and the greek salad, then I had the Portuguese Seafood Stew and DH had a chicken and cous cous dish. It was all perfectly prepared and flavorful...a real treat. Oh, and the service was great!!! I highly recommend Spoodles!!!

We're dining outside of the parks (well TS anyway) except for Le Cellier and Norway (Princess Breakfast) all the other places are:

Wolfgang Puck Cafe (2x)
Boma
O'Hana
Kona
CMC-Breakfast
CMC-Dinner
1900 Park Faire
ESPN
Grand Floridian Cafe

I haven't tried all the park restaurants yet (maybe another time), but I enjoy resort places. Eventually, I'd like to try them all.

We're about half and half it looks like. We're planning on

Le Cellier (Epcot)
Coral Reef (Epcot)
Cinderella's Round Table (Magic Kingdom)
Spoodles (Boardwalk)
Citricos/Flying Fish/California Grill (one of the three all resorts)
Jiko (AKL)
Boma (AKL)
and probably Boma breakfast at least once (AKL)

The food just looked a lot better at most of the resort lodges rather then at the parks.

Just to clarify, he means Le Chef's de France. Too much cabernet for him :rotfl2:

I agree. I think the best places are outside of the parks, except EPCOT. Le Cellier, Rose and Crown, Le Chefs, Alfredos, Biergarten, Nine Dragons, and San Angel are all very good. Depending on your tastes, you will nit be dissappointed at WS

That's funny the CM asked me the same question when I made my ADR's a couple of days ago.

I thought it was weird because the only ADR's I was making were for CM's on 5/3 and 1900 Park Fare on 5/9.
