Are you going to the bank today?

I work in a bank and I am at work today. Historically, December 26th is the slowest banking day of the year... or so it seems. Staffing is very low and customer volume is very low. (Good thing since the flu is going around here.)

Just wondering if anyone will be using their bank's services today.

I just came back from a visit to our bank. The lot was full and lobby was packed! Surprised me.

I would think a lot of people would be depositing Christmas checks. I went to the ATM this morning, and the lot was full.

We're running at a typical day after Christmas lull. The only big transactions that are being done are night deposit bags from Wednesday. Isn't it funny how some areas are busy and others aren't?

I had to go to the bank today. I slipped up and ran out of cash on Christmas Eve. The bank was very crowded Christmas Eve, so I waited until today to get a little cash to keep on hand.

I'll be going to the Drive Thru window to deposit those Christmas checks!

Nope here in Canada our banks are closed as this is a stat holiday.....Boxing Day!:Pinkbounc :bounce:

The Community Reinvestment Act encourages us to give loans to people who are broke.

I got a call from another banker in Bucks County. She said her day was dragging and they had one rush of people but have otherwise not been busy.

Also heard of a bank robbery near us this morning. Hmm, maybe that's why banks are open today....

I went to the bank early this afternoon to cash a check that had just come in the mail. The line was pretty long; about 12 people ahead of me. When I was done, the line was just as long behind me.

Haven't been inside a bank in 6-7 years. Strictly ATM's ,direct deposit of paychecks, etc.
I get a kick out of watching :p 10-12 cars in line(drive through) at the bank and I drive up to the ATM (no line), and finish my transaction in 1 minute.::yes::

Hmm live in the South. I never heard of a bank being open on a Sunday odd. We have now just start open up Saturday 9a.m.-1:00pm. That not even all banks where I live at only a select few.

That's just a little too close to home for me.

December 26, 1997 ... the branch I was working in was robbed. They had robbed a bank near ours first that morning and then came and robbed ours. It was awful. Every now and then I get "spooked" (only word I can think of to describe how it feels) by something I see. Like men in black ski masks, that's what they wore during the robbery. I have always felt bad for one of the customers. She was in her late 60's and they held a gun to her head while they were collecting the money.

That's what the robbers were wearing... ski masks.

And, to add insult to injury, they locked the employees in the vault. Since I read "Roses are Red" by James Patterson, I've gotten more scared of bank robberies. I used to work in our main office. My office was in the basement and the bathroom was on the first floor, past the vault. I'd get spooked sometimes, too, when I'd have to go into the "real bank."

That's how robberies usually go... in streaks, from one bank to another, either by the same person or by copy cats. That's why we get an email as soon as we hear of a robbery, so at least we're prepared.... as much as you can be.

I'm sorry for your experience. Those are shoes that I never want to be in.
