are you glad you bought the DVC?

are you glad you bought the DVC ownership?

  • SO GLAD! Best thing investment for our family!

  • Happy we'll be making time for vacations now! Not sure if it's savings?

  • I don't know. What did I sign up for again?

  • Hmm...this is more costly then I realized and 2042 is a long way off!!!

DVC is most definitely NOT a savings for me. We go to WDW much more often that we would without DVC, and spend a lot on food, admissions, etc.

I'm glad I bought for the same reasons I bought it for in the first place...namely, to upgrade my vacation accommodations on-site at WDW at an affordable price.

Do it's doing for us what we want it to...but definitely costing us more!

Absolutely, we have 175pts. @ BW and we go every 18 months. We love it!:thumbsup2

I guess no matter what it is all perception. We do spend more by going more often. But we save by spending less on each trip. I guess it is one of those, "I bought this dress at 50% off and saved money". Then DH says, "You would have saved money by not buying anything at all." ;)

Definately glad we bought it. The investment we made was on each other and quality vacations. We've been DVC Members for 8 years now and have been very very satisfied. We've had great WDW vacations, visits to Hilton Head and Vero Beach, and some great cruises as well.

well said:thumbsup2

i always tell DH...gotta spend money to save money:teacher: ;)

I chose the second choice because I don't view DVC as an investment. I do think that it is one of the best purchases I have ever made!

We are very happy. We vacation regularly, with kids and without! We certainly are spending more money than previously but we are now going more and having more fun at the same time. We invite friends and family and sometimes, even slip away without letting them know...

Is this an investment? No, but I don't think I would ever think of vacations as an investment. Our family owns a cottage and even though it has appreciated in value, we will never realize the windfall. We aren't selling and therefore the cottage is just continuing costs each year. But, just like DVC we love it and look forward to it each time we go.

We are going more often than we normally would, we are taking friends and family along as our guests which we wouldn't otherwise do, and we have bought more points to enable us to stay where we want to stay when we go, so it has ended up costing us. However, we love it, so we are happy to pay the money, we feel like it's a great thing, and we are completely satisfied with the arrangement!

We are glad and now are able to go on vacation alot more than we ever were able to before which is nice since we can have a family bond. :grouphug:

The 1 bdrm make the vacation more relaxing and comfortable. :cloud9:

ok......
who voted "other", & why? :)
(not me, i voted #1.........we've owned since 2000, & still feel it's one of the best "investments" we ever made :thumbsup2 )

DVC definitely isn't a savings for us (at least short term) because we'll end up going more often plus we don't usually stay at deluxe resorts so we are upgrading our accomdations. However, I'm happy we purchased. Disney is truly our Happy Place. When we've had a tough day (or week), our quiet in the storm is planning our next trip. DVC makes that more likely and possible. It also gives us additional things to do when we don't want to go into the parks.

DH voted "So Glad" in the poll, although we may not go so far as to call it the best investments, we both agree that we are very glad we "took the DVC plunge". We're looking forward to years of Disney vacations as well as giving points to DD and DS for honeymoon gifts when the time comes and points to my parents for their 50th anniversary in 2 years. :goodvibes

Very Glad. It is not a financial investment but a family investment for us!

I have always kept track of everything I spend on my Disney vacations, and figure each trip on a cost per day, that way trips of different length can be evenly compared. The cost per day for our 2 DVC trips is lower than our last 2 non DVC trips, and the 2 non DVC trips we stayed at a moderate and a value resort. Yes, DVC is definitely a good value for us.

I voted 'so glad' even though I know it's not saving us money. If my goal was to save money, I could have put it in a bank.

We initially bought at BWV with plans to be able to take the entire family (2ds, 2ddil, dgrandkids, dh and me) once every 3 years getting a 2br and a studio. That never happened. We added on before our first trip and we have gone every other year, never put anybody in a studio, and have had occasional additional trips for one or more of the families. We never thought of this as a financial investment, but it has truly been a GREAT family investment. DH and I are going alone for 5 days in January (and staying in a studio for the first time), then in June the whole family is going along with 2 dear friends. We have a 2br and two 1brs at BWV for 4 nights, then off to Vero Beach with a 2br and 2 oceanview rooms for 3 more nights.

We are loving our DVC membership! We look forward to every trip and love how every trip is different then the previous.

I am very glad I purchased DVC. We vacation more for about the same amount of money I was paying for deluxe resorts. We brought my husbands entire family this past summer-something we would have never done if we did were not owners.

My husband has a Mustang that he is constantly working on...that is his toy.
DVC is my toy. Both toys benefit the family.
We have an agreement-I get to drive the Mustang whenever I want and he gets to come to WDW with me. He decides what he is going to do to "enhance" his car and I decide how the points will be allocated every year.
It works!!!

I picked the the top answer because the "SO GLAD" fits, but it is NOT an investment. DVC falls under the entertainment portion of my budget, that is money well spent on very enjoyable vacations, SPENT being the key. The fact that I will be saving on accomodations in the future is a plus.
