Are you giving your groom a gift the day of the wedding?

I see on the bridal shows that some couples exchange gift before they see each other at the wedding something with meaning.

Is or has anyone done this??? What did you do or going to do?? I'm stuck on should or should i not and what to give.

I gave my husband a pocket watch inscribed with "Amo Te" ("I love you" in Latin, which he studied). I did it the first day we were in Disney World, about 6 days before the wedding.

A photopass photographer caught the us just as I was giving it to him in front of the castle. It was a great start to the wedding trip.

I've seen pocketwatches also. I want to give a gift too, but he's not into watches... any other ideas?

I booked the Segway tour in Epcot for us for the last day of our stay. My DF doesn't know it, and won't know until we're there (that's how aware he is of our itinerary :rotfl2: ) He has been wanting to do this for a long time and has always thought it was too expensive!!! With the AP discount, it was perfect!

I got a pocket watch because he had always wanted one. I knew I wanted to save it for our wedding so for years I told him he didn't need one and that it would be a waste of money! :rotfl2:

I think the important thing, as with any gift, is that it's something that makes him happy. It doesn't have to be super sentimental. I know one woman who bought her husband a gaming system. Not the most romantic gift, but it was something she saved up for and that he really wanted. My step mother got my dad a leather jacket. Get him something to make him smile, even if the gift doesn't last a life time (like the gaming system) the memory of your thoughtfulness will.

I was thinking of booking my DF for the Richard Petty Driving thing. We are both nascar fans and I would love for him to be able to do that.

aw that's super cute! I wish I could think of some awesome experience that I know he'd love...but he's very "different" I'd have to put a lot of thought into it. Hm.....

Oh, that's what I'm doing!!!!! I got the idea from my lady at Jenny Craig who did it for her husband at Disney as a gift for their wedding! :goodvibes

You should totally do that Toni! Bobby would love it I bet!

I hope so. It took me a while to come up with something but I think its the best idea I had. He is tough to get anything for!!

We exchanged ours before. I could not take Leif's gift on a plane. It was a huge print that we still have not haved framed. You know what I like just as much. Each of you writing a letter the night before to each other that is opened on your first anniversary. Now that is a gift that will give a year later.

I never thought of the letter thing... really sweet. I think I'll do that too! Thanks! ::yes::

Ok girls disclaimer. My husband did the letter. I ended up drinking with a friend. After the rehearsal dinner and the drama that is all I wanted to do. It was great to read his letter though! We are going to do this again for when we have a kid. I promised him I would write the letter then =)

Yeah this is a great idea!! I wrote a really sappy letter to my mom my first day away at college and I haven't given it to her, I thought maybe I'd give it to her on my wedding day (if I can find it!! :lmao:)

DF and I are planning on doing this... but we're going to pick out something that day together. He suggested we go to the Art of Disney Store at MGM and buy our first animation cell together (or something like a cell, but more in budget). That way, yes, we'll have a physical gift, but also the memory of the experience together :):lovestruc

I guess I could give him something he'd really appreciate... some quiet time to himself. I think the best way to do that would be for me to go to the spa.

I was thinking of getting him some cufflinks for our special day. He was going to get me some earrings. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it that long w/o the earrings, so we're planning on doing something else.

Aha! The truth comes out... :lmao: I'll end up doing the same thing! DF will be like, "you made me be romantic and you didn't even write a letter!" :rotfl:

DecemberBride, I believe that that is the EXACT wording that I got. I have to find the letter I think it is in our treasure box of memorable stuff from our honeymoon and wedding.

Sounds like your DH and my DF are on the same wavelength... :lmao:

Well, I'm not sure what he's thinking, but as wedding gifts, I'm thinking we'll do the letters, and maybe do a tour together (KTTK or something like that), and then individual gifts. I mentioned those boudoir pics and Nic got very excited :hyper:. Men. :confused3 But I might do that.

Mine gave me a pair or Tiny baby diamond earrings to wear in my second holes. I gave him a Flask with his name on it (he had wanted a nice flask sooo bad)lol
But while on our honeymoon he saw the NMBC pocket watch and fell in love with it. So While getting dinner I ran and bought it for him as a surprise but he caught me doing it because our gift show was out of them but he was super surprised and we went to main street to go buy it.
heh
Though he never wears it... *pout*
