I am so looking forward to having Lauren (DD) home for a few days for Easter! :goodvibes I really miss her alot, we are very close, etc. However she called me yesterday and said that she might not be able to come home, due to work! I do not want her upset, I told her that was fine, if she has to stay it was no big deal! I could hear in her voice that she wants to come home as well. She wants me and my Mom to go up for Mother's Day if possible. I am just hoping that she will be able to come home for Easter, but it does not look good.

My daughter's University doesn't give them any kind of an Easter break.

She will probably come home after classes on Good Friday and go back down to school on Easter night.

 I am sorry that your DD might not be able to come home for Easter. :guilty:

How far away is she?
I was always disappointed if my DD couldn't make it home for a holiday while going to school 5 hours away. It didn't happen much, but work can get in the way sometimes.
:grouphug: I'm sorry your DD can't make it

Oh my that is sad. I know how I and DH have been feeling about seeing DS on Easter, EXCITED! He will be home for Friday (no classes) Thru Monday Patriots Day(no classes). His morning classes are cancelled Tues. so he will go back tues. morning in time for afternoon class at 2:30! That's what we are planning on, now his plans may be different. We don't see him much these days, busy with school and friends. It's good for him to have a social life, he didn't have much time in HS, but we are missing him, so I know how you feel.
I think if he wasn't coming home I would go there and go out to Easter Dinner with him, that would be an option for us, but I don't know if it is for you? :grouphug: Did you see your DD over Spring Break? This isn't easy is it?

My DS will be flying home Easter night from a Track Meet in California so I guess I'm excited for him but it is weird knowing I won't be putting together an Easter basket for him. :(

I just have to keep reminding myself of our big Disney trip planned for June when Michael will be joining us!! :bounce:

edited to add "home" means his college. :(

My son is flying home tonight and goes back to school the Monday after Easter. YAY!!! :cool1:

Can wait to give him a hug! :goodvibes

DD will be home Thursday night! And I bought her a new easter basket (it's shaped like a bumble bee -- adorable, $8.99 at the Giant Eagle!) I'll stuff it with lipstick and nail polish!! :)

Oh my gosh, this thread is making me cry! I don't even have a child in college, but my youngest only has two more years of high school left, and I can't even think about her going off to college. :sad2:

My oldest commuted to the local university and my middle child went to college an hour away. If there were times when she couldn't get home due to school schedules or work schedules, we went down to see her.

I hope everyone who has a son or daughter in college gets to see them over Easter, or soon after!!

MsDisney23- Maybe your daughter will be able to make it home. I'm sending good thoughts your way! :)

Yes, I feel your pain! My son is in medical school and is unable to get home all that often, and it is so hard to be mature about it and tell him its OK while our hearts are breaking. I hope your daughter is able to make it, if not, look ahead to Mother's Day and what a nice day you will have then.

:grouphug: It does get better, I promise. My dd justs called and said work has her scheduled for 2 hours on Good Friday and 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. So if she wants off of work, she has to find someone to work for her. I don't think it is going to happen because everyone wants off for Easter. She works at the YMCA and I can't believe they are open that long on Saturday. So much for a Christian based program.

DD already had her spring break, and went to Africa. We will see her at graduation, then probably once during the summer to move things to wherever she gets a job, then we MIGHT see her at Christmas.

Whenever I get sad about it, I think of the lines in "The Prophet" about parents being a bow, shooting their children into the future. My job was to raise my children to be good, responsible, adults who are capable of living independently when I'm gone. DD is almost there, on her way to a future I can only imagine.

My sister is doing what we call a drive by visit. She'll be home Saturday afternoon and will be heading back to school after brunch on Sunday. Her school doesn't have Monday holidays in order to finish the semester early.
