Are you eligible for this money?

GRRRRRR! No wonder the disboards has the reputation of being the unfriendliest board around!

I hardly ever post - because yep - most people on the boards are just too mean for me.

I agree that some mean spirited people pop up from time to time on the DISboards.

I categorize them as *cyber bullies*

That said when I saw this posting a few days ago ...

I just knew someone was bound to jump on the OP.

I guess my moral compass is not as finely tuned as the *code of ethics police*

Thank you so much for this! Last January we were dog sitting our neighbor's dog while they were in Africa for 2 weeks. Dog became DEATHLY ill, vet visits, almost lost her..all because of those terrible Wagon dog treats. I forwarded the info to my neighbor as she is eligible for vet visit reimbursement. Thanks!

can you only claim these if you are a u.s. citizen? I purchase tons of ghiradelli chocolate when i'm at wdw, about twice a year, but I only see states listed and not provinces.
this is all new to me, never heard of this.....interesting.

Not sure,

But this is the Canadian one I was referring to that started me posting here https://www.themoneyismine.ca/

If you bought electronic devices containing DRAM between April 1, 1999 and June 30, 2002. Products that qualify include:
  • computers (laptops or desktops)
  • printers
  • memory modules
  • graphics cards
  • video game consoles
  • DVD players
  • personal digital assistants (PDAs)
  • MP3 players
  • personal video recorder (PVR)/TiVo/digital video recorders
  • servers
  • computer based point of sale systems
  • all other products that contain DRAM

NOTE IF you and your spouse both bought it fill out the section on the right - it was a bit confusing and I only filled out the part for individuals without a receipt ( on left) since I don't have a receipt. Realized after the section on the left included 2 members of the same house hold receipt still not needed. I lost out on a second $20.

Expect the money to come in so long you will have forgotten ever filling out that form...lol

Thanks for this. I'm definitely eligible for the Ghiarardelli one. I buy their chips all the time because the school doesn't allow store brand or Nestle's chocolate chips because of the potential peanut issue.

thanks for the heads up...also qualify for 2 of them..never would have found without the disboards!

I am married to one of those blood sucking leech ambulance chasing attorneys. WOW talk about cyber bullies lol. Most people have no clue what attorneys do to help people and how hard most of them work.

DH has been a prosecutor for 26 years and has went into private practice starting Jan 2015. He has helped SO many people and I am very proud of him.

Thanks OP for the heads up on the A&H and Ghiradelli. As a user of both, I never knew these lawsuits existed!!

I personally love it when I receive those class action postcards in the mail! I barely have to do anything, I make a small bit of money, and I’m sticking it to the man! I received one recently and when I glanced at it and saw the words “Wells Fargo” and “class action” I became very excited because we’ve had a total of four mortgages through them. Big money, right? No, just about $10.75. One home required flood insurance and Wells Fargo owned the company that assessed properties for the flood insurance and did not disclose that relationship. Something like that anyway. I’ll still happily take my money.

I got to be a part of another one when some nice lady brought suit against a car dealership that it turns out sold me a used car that had been previously repossessed but did not disclose that fact as required by state law. I was already two states away by that point and had sold the car five years previous, but who cares? Nice lady’s actions got me $500! Thank you, nice lady! And I’m always amazed at how those postcards find you years later at your current address.

It’s funny to me. We (as Americans in general) all complain about so much that is wrong with big business, and then when someone actually and successfully ‘catches’ them and they are forced to make restitution to their customers, someone on here complains about it. Thank you OP for the original link; I had previously been unaware of any site that aggregates current class action suits.

I was part of the DeBeers settlement several years ago - anyone who had purchased diamond jewelry within a specified time frame was eligible... it was shortly after my husband upgraded my engagement/wedding ring.... My check was over $800!

Just an ironic little story:

I filled out the online form a couple of years ago for a class action suit against HP, regarding their printers (I got a notice in the mail). I had 3 printers that qualified, so I supplied all necessary info, and really hadn't thought about it since. Two weeks ago, I got an e-mail notice that I had an e-credit from HP (three credits, actually, one for each affected printer), but it's an e-credit to be used on their website. :worried:

I wasn't trolling the internet looking for them, There is a huge one in Canada right now that I ( and most people I know ) qualify for, and while researching it I found these.

I am not suggesting anyone fill it out if they did not buy the product, but if they did buy the product why not ( as is the case with the $20 coming to me because of a price fixing class action suit here in Canada for computer RAM in the early 2000's).

If someone chooses to embellish what they bought that's their prerogative, but if you re-check the title of my thread it says " Are you Eligible for this Money?"
"Eligible" implies I am not suggesting anyone cheat. So again I am wondering why you are accusing me of "Trolling the internet" If you are not eligible, skip this thread and move along. I don't think posting information, that for the record I can't even use because I am Canadian, but hopefully is useful to someone else, makes me a bad person or a troll.

GRRRRRR! No wonder the disboards has the reputation of being the unfriendliest board around!

And for the record even though you don't require proof of purchase ( because really who has deodorant receipts from months or even years ago and the courts recognize that) you are still declaring you bought that product on a legal form.

Cry innocent all you want... But you are specifically posting refunds that require no receipts. That says everything. If you truly qualify then by posting them you are only diluting your settlement.

I hope you get all the money you "deserve"

I am specifically posting ONE website that lists the requirements that the COURTS set for a variety of class action settlements.
I am not diluting anything I'm not even eligible, I'm Canadian ( as I've said numerous times now) and I'm not diluting it for anyone else, as you get a set amount not a percentage.

Do you feel that companies should be allowed to mis-lead, intentionally mis-inform and knowingly create faulty or dangerous products and not be held accountable.

Go pick on someone else, your negativity isn't welcome here!

Just got a Cheque for 191.00 from Sketchers Canada for a shoe class action suit!

Sure the lawyers get the big bucks, but then again they are the one spending time on the cases, hiring the professionals investigate and to testify on the cases. I believe you almost always have the option to opt out of the class action law suit and file your own against the company.
::yes:: Or just not get involved at all.

I'm friendly. :teeth:
So you claim ;)

I'm friendly and thank you for posting I actually qualify for one I had no clue about, sorry for the nasty comment the DIS is usually very helpful and friendly :flower3:

I know I have signed up for a few class action suits and I find nothing wrong with lawyers being highly compensated. They take on the risk to protect the consumer. It is a gamble when they file lawsuits like this. I think one class action suit I signed up for was for ATT years ago misrepresenting their DSL speed and the other one had something to do with my health insurance. In the case of people having issues with items like break pads and the siding on their house, these types of legal actions are important to the welfare and safety of the public.

I think we got $1,000 from a Kia class-action. This was a few years after we sued Kia (and won) under our state's lemon law. So we received two judgments, though the first was almost more hassle than it was worth, the second was free money that required no work on out part, so that was nice. And we had moved by then but the letter found us.
