I know there are people who will think this post is in poor taste because of Rich Hyams recent death. That is not my intention in any way and I truely feel for his family. However, after seeing the thread about a scholarship fund for his daughter it got me to thinking about whether people (especially those with children) have enough life insurance in the event of the unthinkable.

I guess because I lost my dad when I was young I understand first hand the importance of being sufficiently insured

So, before it's too late please make sure your family will be well taken care of.

Again, my heart goes out to the Hyam family for their tragic loss.

I got plenty of life insurance in my late 20's and early 30's when I was healthy. I'm now 52 and would be uninsurable with various health issues, but due to buying early I'm still covered for my family.

Lot's of folks do not think of it till it's too late.

Not in poor taste, IMHO.

I had life insurance when I worked then about a year of being a SAHM my DH canceled it because he said it wasn't a good one. Well, he's never replaced it.

My DH, OTOH, has 2 or 3 policies worth about $2,500,000!!! I've never asked for it and I think he's crazy but he says he's the bread winner and if he dies he wants his 3 girls all set. He wants enough to pay off the house and all the bills and for me to get by not having to work and take care of the girls. What a sweetie pie. I do have to get insurance, though, before its too late! DH doesn't see too worried though.

I remember when my DH's mother died, they had NO insurance and we had to find a way to pay for everything; it was tough. Well, after that my DH got his father life insurance that we pay for and we are the beneficiaries for. It's about $50 a month but worth it. He didn't have to do a physical or anything. It's geared toward older people. Wonderful. We also bought his parent's plot so we don't have to worry about that.

I've been thinking lately about buying our plot so my kids don't have to worry about that and I'd like to be buried at my Church's cemetary. Can't bring myself to do it yet though.
