yes me too! Nice to know im not alone- my little River is rather fond of his milkies i was wondering how people may react to us in WDW as i do end to get them out regularly for him!
I nursed my first daughter until she was over 4, my second self weaned at 12 months which upset me, but Rivers set for a few more years yet i think! You can tell at this age when the LOVE it!
We have a 10 hour flight- hell probably drink the whole way!!

Thanks, as hard as it was, (and is) it has been worth it to me. I have to say thought before I was faced with this challenge when I would hear about mother's who did and I wondered if I could. When actually faced with it, it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I guess it goes to show (even in this minor way) we are a lot stronger when we have to be, then we sometimes think we can be. Also I am willing to "give up" a lot more for my children then my own needs. (really can't give up pizza for mear dieting, but could for her.) But then again I did gain for it, or actually losss. 20 lbs. So it was good for me too.

I clicked on MDC, but didn't get it to work. I will check it out later.

Just that, I didn't have that happen, but I have heard of mom's where it did. I had a year of no nursing between babies so that might be part of it.

I agree! I nursed my son until he was 32 months, and my daughter till she was 22 months (which included 6 months of tandem nursing) Its been almost a year since she stopped nursing, and part of me still misses it.

One of my favorite DL pictures is of me with A Bug's Life Characters. My son is in the sling, nursing and nobody was the wiser!

I used to be a nursing mom of toddlers but that has been a few years now. Mine were 18, 14, and 20 months until they weaned.

I second MDC and bf.com message boards.

Also I leaked milk way early with each pregnancy, tons of milk. Actually that is how I suspected I was preggo with my last DD.

Another extended nurser here! My first weaned right before her 3rd birthday. I was pregnant with DD2 and she didn't like the way the milk tasted. DD2 quit at 14 months and broke my heart because she was my "last". I was NOT ready and she just quit one day. For months I would offer, but nope, not interested. Surprise! Now DD3 is 27 months going strong. I'm so glad she is too, because she's been horribly sick for 6 days now and the only thing that she's interested in is nursing. Around the clock. All day, All night. But then again, no dehydration either!

Got to love those dark theaters at Disney! Our life saver at Epcot one day was Journey into Imagination with Figment.

I lurk on MDC...have been a long-time (8 years!) subscriber to Mothering. I belong to a cloth diapering community that is very, very crunchy and stick mostly to that. I had some trouble following threads when MDC changed its format.
Has anyone else ever checked out www.kellymom.com? It's a wonderful resource for any breastfeeding mother! I also wonder how many of us are active in LLL.

We are a 100% dairy-free family and our health has greatly improved in the past 4 years since we ditched all forms of milk products (even hidden dairy). And yes, dh and I both lost weight, too! Congratulations on your efforts on behalf of your dd!

My boys are grown now (see picture below) but I'll weigh in anyway. I nursed all 3 of my babies and it was a wonderful experience. I've asked them if they remember but they don't, the beautiful memories are mine alone. Hey, in biblical times children were nursed until 7-8 years old! Keep it up ladies, it's the best thing for your little ones.

DS at 18 months weaned himself during a week in WDW!!!!!!

At 12 months he was still nursing around the clock, however after a year he started to self-wean and gave up feedings at night and then during the day. Before we left for Disney he was only asking to nurse in the late afternoon for some cuddling mommy time. I treasured it!! While at WDW he never asked to nurse. I offered a few times but even in the hotel room he was too excited about his surroundings to nurse. I thought for sure when we got home he would ask to nurse again - but never did! I was a little sad but proud we weaned on his terms.

I'm coming in late but it's great to see so many extended BFers. I'm still nursing my 21 month old. We went to WDW last at 17 months and it was great to be still BFing. It was particularly helpful on the plane because on the way there and on the way home, I nursed him to sleep as soon as we got in the air and he slept straight through until we landed. It was a little uncomfortable for me to have a 25 pound toddler sound asleep in my arms for a 3 hour flight but it was worth it.

The baby stations at WDW, especially Animal Kingdom, are a godsend for parents of babies and young children and you should be able to nurse there in comfort.

Yes, I can see how that would more then a bit difficult (to nurse a 18 month old who hadn't been before.) I think if I adpoted a newborn I would give it a real try (as much as I had for my 2 other children, but then again my body already knows what it is doing, I know it works.) To nurse your 1st child who was adopted would be a major feet!

Anyone here ever nursed adopted children, or twins? I always admire that. Talk about deidcation. Giving up some foods, med, or drinks is nothing compared to that in my book.
