Same here, only Heinz ketchup and Hellman's mayo- I am wierd about it. it is the only mayo I like so it is all I buy. My Mil uses Blue plate mayo- eww

I am a little irritated that I can't find some of my usual brands now that I've moved.

Kim

:lmao:
I'm just the opposite of you- cannot stand Hellman's but love Blue Plate. OK, so I am brand loyal to BP mayo.

Ketchup is the exact product that taught me price, not brand is what is important.
My dad worked at a cannery. They canned apricots, peaches, pears, tomatoes and made tomato juice and ketchup. They had only one recipe for ketchup, and it went into Heinz, Del Monte, S&W, Hunts, store brands, and the canneries own private label.

Nope. HATE Hunts, love Heinz. One tastes good and the other tastes like Poo. It's not in my mind. LOL!

I am brand loyal on certain items. I like Tide detergent and Downy softener. I like Hellman's or Duke's for Mayo, NEVER Kraft.

I only buy Claussen pickles. Mt. Olive or store brand are disgusting to me.

Feminine products, and Diet Coke. No other Diet Cola is ok.

I know there are more but those are my biggies.

I would say about about 90% of what we buy is based on price. This week be bought RC Cola, last week Coke, the week before Pepsi because they were all on sale at Walmart for even less than Sam's American Choice Cola.
My wife has a few brands she is loyal to, she will only eat Le Sueur canned peas......she doesn't like fresh or frozen peas. She only uses Bakers brand chocolate for baking. My daughter is a vegeterian, and she's only brand loyal because isn't a big fan of soy based foods, so she only buys Quorn brand vegeterian products which are soy free.
There are a few brands we avoid. Dasani Great Value, and Aquafina bottled water, they taste funny to us.

The one product I don't get why anyone would be brand loyal to, milk.

I can't disagree with you more on the ketchup. I can tell the difference in ketchup. I bought Hunts one time because it was on sale. Big mistake, I threw it away, give my Heinz or give me death.

I am so with you on everything that you named. I love me some Dukes. My DD was eating a lunchable with Kraft mayo. She said mom this isn't good, something in wrong. I wiped off the kraft and put the Dukes on, she said ok, now it is good. She was only 4 and has never eaten anything but Dukes since then.

For expensive items, I am very selective and generally keep to established companies.

For inexpensive items, I tend to care less about brand - but it is still important. If you don't believe me, buy off brand ketchup.

But I do not support one specific brand over another if the quality is comparable.

Somewhere right now, a Heinz marketing person is smiling.:)

On the Diet Coke, which one? Diet coke in the silver can made with Nutrasweet, or Diet coke in with the yellow stripe make with Spenda. They are two totally different sodas to me, I don't care for the silver can diet coke.

When I was growing up, it was DelMonte Ketchup....than Hunts! HATE HATE HATE Heinz, don't even use it in the resterants...blaahhh! Helmans or no mayo at all, French's mustard or Guldens spicy brown mustard. Scott-tissue, or nothing at all, and Viva Paper Towels.:thumbsup2 Hate Prego spag sauce but love Hunts.;) Bologna HAS to be Oscar Mayer and Cheese has to be Cracker Barrel. Cereal--Kelloggs brand ONLY!:woohoo:

I am a mix. I will try the store brand sometimes but often find I don't care for it. Like Kraft mac and cheese, I have tried all the others and nothing is like it. Egoos waffles, no one makes them the same. Dasani water for sure. However some stuff like scalloped potatos or coffee or french fries I dont care. I am all for saving a dime!! In this last downturn I learned how to shop at Superwalmart. Not only do I like it better but my buck goes further even without coupons!! There are a few brands of things I still can't find there or that they have better generic at the regular grocery store. My DH just bought a big box of "krusteaz" waffles. I told him not to freelance and he tried to lie and say they were eggos. They will not be eaten here.I cut corners whereever I can but if it doesn't work or doesnt taste good cheap can end up costing you money in the long run!

I am very much so on many different things -- my wife is not at all on anything that I can tell. <shrug>

Hunts and Heinz taste very, very different. I can always tell. I have a friend that puts whatever she can find on sale in a heinz bottle to trick her family and I can always taste the difference at her house. I hate anything but heinz ketchup.

If my favorite isn't on sale, I will cut corners somewhere else or go without. There are a few things that I am loyal to a few brands on and will get whichever of those is on sale. Like detergent, I will use any brand name but I will not use arm and hammer (hate the smell) or no name detergents like xtra. But I will use all, tide, purex, ajax.

I only use heinz ketchup and kleenex or puffs. I hate generic tissues. I will not buy peter pan pb because my kids won't eat it but I will buy store brand, jif or skippy. So brand loyal isn't always locked into one brand for me.

I am very brand loyal for certain products only. Paper Towels, Peanut Butter, Hair Products, Cold Cuts, Soda, certain medications.

Could be a few others.

It is funny how everyone has different tastes. I will only eat Peter Pan, won't touch Jiff. Coffee, very picky and I will spend a small fortune. Eggo waffles, yuck. Either home made or Krusteaz mix. But they weren't frozen ones so maybe those are different. But I don't like any frozen waffles or pancakes. I don't care about toilet paper as long as it is soft. Wont' use Charmine, per plumbers that I know, nothing clogs up your toilet faster. Mustard, don't care, don't like any jarred sauce at all. Only hunts tomato sauce when making homemade sauce. Oh well. To each there own. Good thing we don't all like the same, we probably would run out of products for us to buy. Oh and big one. Don't dare give me Diet pepsi only the original Diet coke for me.

When my boys were young I bought store brand peanut butter and ketchup one time and even though they didn't see the containers, they knew it (so did I by taste). I had to buy Jif and Heinz for them. Same with Kraft Mac and Cheese vs the store brands. It's just DH and I at home now, but the boys, living on their own have their preferences which they now buy themselves. I do buy some Wegman's brand items, but that's about it for store brands. As for name brands, we definitely have our preferences and I don't care what the discount is, if no one will eat it, it's no bargain, is it?

Yes have to add Ketchup and Coffee to the list.:thumbsup2

Some things, yes--I am die hard brand loyal....Diet coke, not diet pepsi, not generic and unless I am fearing a caffeine headache, I do not settle.

Other things--not at all.

We do have things that we are predominantly brand loyal: Ragu, skippy, my earth balance spread. But we'll make do with a sub if the deal is incredible except for things that we brand-avoid (prego? ).

So I'm not able to vote.

I’m only a brand snob on a few things:

- Tide with Downey
- Heinz ketchup - I TOTALLY agree about Hunts being awful, horrible!
- Cascade Dishwashing Soap
- Q-Tips
- Farmer John or Ball Park hot dogs
- All of my Cereal (I only buy whatever brand is on sale though)

I will drive to another store if I need one of these things and my store is out! I will ONLY buy them. Other things, I prefer name brand, but if the store brand is way cheaper or on sale, I will get it.

Its so interesting to hear everyones faves. I don't feel quite so silly for having option anxiety at the grocery srore. I don't think it would be nearly as hard if I was familiar with any of them at all.

When I was growing up, one of my Dad's clients was Del Monte. I remember him telling me when he walked through the plant, they had two lines. One was the regular Del Monte line, the other was a generic label. Both lines were being filled from the same machine. Same product, just different labels. And I know the same is true for Energizer batteries. They have a number of generic labels that they manufacture for.
Somewhere right now, a Heinz marketing person is smiling.:)

I was thinkin the same thing.:goodvibes

Personally, I'm not brand loyal. I have brand preferences. I stock up. So, I stock up on the brands that I like when they are on sale/cheap. But, if I run out and if I can't find it on sale, I'll buy whatever is the cheapest. Turkey Hill iced tea and Viva Paper Towels are the only things I would consider paying full price for.

Yes, I am pretty brand loyal on most things. I am willing to try new stuff sometimes though.
