Are you booking your 2011 rooms w/out the new price release? and...

thanks so much for the info mlittig & pepe2123! I requested the planning DVD and hopefully there's a PIN! (crossing fingers) :)

Hmmm, I'm not sure if I should go ahead and put a deposit down for 'room only'. I know we're eventually going to want to book a MYW + dining package. We are planning on arriving Jan 25, but it's almost time to book our dining arrangements, so I don't really want to wait until August to book.
Will I lose my dining reservations if I later change from a room only to a vacation package? :headache:

Dining reservations have nothing to do with your resort reservations. So, you can book those at 180 days out.

I am so glad to hear that. Thank you :goodvibes . I was just worried because I didn't know if the confirmation number changed when you went from a room-only to a package deal. Good to know :) .

Thank you everyone for your awesome input!!!! I appreciate it a lot. Come on 2011 rates...come out now!!!!!

I just called to try and book a room only reservation at WL for June of next year. The kind CM informed me that there really wasn't a point to it at this point because if I want to add a package I have to cancel the room only reservation I had already made and they'd have to refund my money and it would be a mess. However, she did say that the new rates should probably be released by the end of August, so try back then.

The CM is right, you would have to cancel and rebook, but it isn't hard and you can do it all, cancel and rebook with the same CM on one call. The reason I book ahead is I want to make sure I get a standard room at WL as they only have a few standards and even with the AP discounts in January, I can't afford a higher category room. The hassle of rebooking if I decide to go with a package is worth it to me to make sure I get the standard room (and I have!):cool1:

Just an FYI, I booked my room only a few weeks ago so I could do my dining all at once. Plus, we are doing Pop this year and the deposit was only $157. I received an email this weekend and they have already adjusted my rate for next year. It would be worth a call to see what they say.

I believe the room rates came out over the weekend.

I called Disney directly today and was quoted daily rates for our stay in February (encompasses weekday rate, weekend rate, and peak rate all in the span of 10 days - over President's day week).
The rates on went up only slightly over 2010 during the same time frame.

I then called AAA to have our agent make a reservation for us as I always work thru AAA. If you want to make a reservation for room only; my AAA quoted us for Disney's basic package - which I'm learning is a new term this year for just - basically - a room reservation! However, the way it was described to me is if you want to add on tickets and DDP when those rates are released - you DO NOT have to go through canceling the room-only basic package; you can just add on tix and DDP to the basic package to turn it in to a MYW package. Makes sense when explained that way.

I just got off the phone with the delightful CM and booked our Pirate Room for 11 days around Easter.

Total: Pirate Room, 11 nights = 3064.60 (no ins.)

Total: Standard Room, 11 nights = 2693.28 (no ins.)

Room Breakdown:
Pirate:
4/13 4/14 =$229
4/15 4/16 = $244
4/17-4/24 = $254

Standard: $30 less per night for each night of stay.

I checked the rates compared to last Easter and it looks like a difference of $9 during the Easter week and $4 the other nights (I'm assuming they're Peak rates as they still seem pretty high).

OUCH!!!!! Not sure if we'll be able to swing the Pirate room (or the entire time at CBR for that matter)

OH: I noticed another poster mentioning paying the deposit on a "room only" rather than waiting for the packages to be out. I booked a "package" today w/o dining and tickets. They have changed the system a bit so you can book it as a package but they are only quoting the room price. however, when the meal/tix prices come out, you don't have to change the ressie, you just update it. We booked our pirate room because they go quickly, will pay the deposit now, and when the meal and ticket prices come out we'll just adjust it.
