I tend to be both, just depends on the situation.

Situation 1: When August arrives, will Qwest (Stephen's employer and local phone company) go on strike. I think probably yes, but not for long. Stephen can work for a friend who is a local contractor and part owner in Chevy's restaurants. Stephen says it could be months, we must save, save, save. Can't plan a WDW vacation until we know what's happening. Which means I can't plan, make ressies (tie up my points) or anything until after 8/1. We want to go in September. I say, let's just go. We have APs, DVC and can eat very cheap. Find cheap airfare and go. He is always one to think the worst will happen. In 23 working for this company (under different names at different times) we've never gone on strike for more than two weeks, and all but two times it was for only hours. In this regard, I am an optimist.

Situation 2: Audutions, job interviews, Stephen getting a transfer, whether we will sell our house. I am a pessimist. I am sure the worst will happen, no matter what.

How about you? Which one?

Almost always an optimist.

Oh, most definitely an optimist!!! :) :) :) :bounce:

But I'm sure I'm only fooling myself and being that way is a huge mistake that will lead to certain disaster. . :(

;)

:teeth:

I'm both. I always have to think the worst at first. I let myself feel sorry and wallow a bit (usually about 30 minutes) then I pick myself up and look on the bright side.

I take after my dad on the pessimist side and then mom's side kicks in :D

I'm an optimist, by nature. It's definitely not that I "choose" to be an optimist, but I was definitely born with this characteristic! :)

I was born a pessimist and raised a pessimist, lol. However, I met and married an eternal optimist. So, I have slowly learned to be optimistic. In my heart of hearts, I struggle with negative thinking and the dark side of life, but you wouldn't know it. This is one characteristic that has slowly changed for the better over time.

I consider myself a realist.

I'd love to say I'm the optimist...but in my experience with our lives everything that can go wrong does! LOL...(yes I can laugh believe it or not)...so I usually think the worst and then if something does happen it usually isn't quite as bad as I imagined it would be.

Does this make sense?

Pessimist-always. I figure I should prepare for and expect the worst and then if by some miracle something positive happens, I'll be surprised. Sad, but true. ;)

My boss tells me I'm a pessimist and I always correct her and tell her I'm al realist when it comes to work related stuff!

I'm a mixture of both.

Optimist, no matter what happens I always try to find the good side to it. Not to say it's always easy but it does make me feel better when I look at things from that view point. :sunny:

For me, the glass is always half empty.

I've always been a pessimist even when I was a child. I'm fighting it though mostly by thinking that whatever happens, good or bad, it's usually for the best in the long run. I can't apply this thinking to really bad events but it works for the smaller irritations of life.

Definitely an optimist, but pragmatic. :)
