Are You Addicted To Disneyland? Do You Go Thru Withdrawals, Too?

I'm 51 years old and addicted to Disneyland. I hate to admit it because I have NEVER been addicted to anything before. I feel alive when I'm there...I feel like a kid. I act like a kid when I'm there. No one can walk fast enough for me. I just take off like a bullet. My kids are consantly yelling at me to slow down. BUT I CAN'T! There's too much to see and do...and I want to see and do it all...at least once!

When I leave I start to develop withdrawal syptoms in about one week. I sit in my office at work and I stare at my Thomas Kinkade epic AP of Sleeping Beauty's Castle or I'm watching the hands on my Mickey Mouse clock go around and around...and I'm thinking about my last trip.

I thought putting a disney room in my house would cure this...but it didn't. I am a HOPELESS DISNEY NUT FOR SURE. I can think of worse things and I chose THIS!

Oh, I am going in four weeks. I was there last two months ago. I live only two hours away. I am a spoiled brat for sure.:cheer2:

Ah there are MANY of us just like you on this board.

Let's see...

I went for a 1 day trip last Thursday and I live 6 hours away.

I cry at Welcome to our family at the rope drop.

When I worked for Disney I also vacationed with them.

My kids are completely brainwashed to be Disney nuts.

I'm going again in 3 months with other Dis nuts.

I am having withdrawals already. We were supposed to go for my birthday last month but, my husband wasn't able to get the time off. But, we may be going next weekend for my husbands birthday. But, our summer trip is a definite yes we will be there. The last week of June is our summer trip.:cool1:

I start feeling sad before the trip begins since I know if the trip is near the time to say goodbye to DL/WDW is too! Certain sights, sounds, smells and tastes really remind me of Disneyland and can get me going. For instance I was at Sams the other day and got a whiff of churros and immediately got sad for Disneyland. I wont' even eat churros anywhere else now! I think everyone has one thing they just love, that gives them a sense of happiness, something they will go to great effort to do. For some people its golf or skiing, others its Vegas. For me its Disney trips and the planning and anticipation that goes along with them. I have just learned not to fight it and enjoy my addiction! And since my husband suffers from same addiction we make a great couple!

OMG yes, I am addicted and I have withdrawls. I went twice last year (April and June) and was not planning on going again until October of this year, but I just can't stand it and am planning a quick weekend trip in march!

You people are sick and need some help................................No just joking I'm a Disney nut too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't get enough of WDW or DL and definitely need my fix. These boards feed the addict.

The churros at the zoo or at Costco ALWAYS bring my mind back to Disney too! I come home from smelling them and check the calendar to see when we can go next.

Just call us the INSANE HYENAS Albort!!!

You work there and you are on here too. You don't fool any of us! We know you love Disney just as much as we do! Admit it!;)

I know what you mean!! I am so addicted that I usually have two trips in the works besides the one I'm on! I just got home 3 days ago, and I already have April, June and now working on October in the works!! It's a sickness I tell ya!

Luckily we all have each other since most IRL don't understand what it's about!

I would be there in a heartbeat if I got a total pinky swear from the big guy in the sky that I would not get sucked in by an earthquake. That is the only thing from keeping me from living in SoCal.

Add me to the list. I am a nut too. You know it is funny I have always loved Disney but not NEARLY as much as I do now that I am an adult.

I know people that know me think my kids are spoiled cuz they have been so many times but we live in CA not too far away and I feel like heck if it is doable and we can afford it WHY NOT.

I can NEVER get sick of that place and I know for me when everything else in life is yucky that is one place that makes me happy.

I just the whole fantasy aspect of it and I love seeing my kids enjoy it. I LOVE rides and I just enjoy the atmosphere.

We bought annual passes finally this past summer and had a lot more trips planned then we are actually going to take now (financial reasons :( ) but we did go 3 times in 06 and will go at least twice in 07.

I don't think anyone else can truly understand how it makes you feel unless they are one of us. I live for planning the next trip and what new things I can see and do. I have been more times than I can count and yet I am always finding new things to do and see.

It is just a great place and for those of us that "get it" we are the lucky ones. ;)

I grew up in Placentia, and have spent allot of time at DL. I don't know if I would like to work there I think it might ruin it for me. As a kid my parents used to drop me and my two brothers and a few of our friends off at DL. We had it so wired we actually would get tired of the rides and play on Tom Swayers Island for hours. My family has a long history with Disneyland and now we are sharing it with our kids.

Hi, my name is Lisa and I am a disney-aholic (and proud of it!!0:cool1: so is my DD, DH not so much.

we are going this weekend, April 1-4 and an Oct trip too. since we've been AP holders for 3 years now, we go at least 3-4 times a year.

I love all of it, the planning, being there and dreaming of going again. DD told us when 5 during our WDW trip she wants to be married in WDW with all the bells and whistles and I will do my Disney best to make it happen, since she is almost 7, at least I have a few years to start saving up.

Yeah it insane how you can go through withdrawl over a place. But I know where you are coming from. When you are there you forget every single care in the world, you skip down mainstreet and round the rest of the park, you cry at every little detail because its so magical and you sing to every song because it makes you happy.

Leaving is aweful. I end up crying as I leave the park and cant turn around and look at the train at Main Station ringing its bell. The Main Entrance Queue music playing hurts to listen to and it makes you cry knowing its going to be a long time before you can come back.

After you get home its like you need you fix, you just need to be back in the park and forget about everything again. It so sucks. Thats what makes the parks so great.

I think though it could be SOOOOOOOOO much worse. If im gonna get additcted to something and it kills me, I am happy it will just be Disney and its magic.

It's certainly nice to be around "addicts" who are all in the same Disney boat!! Nobody else seems to really understand! :goodvibes

Add me to the list of the addicted and not remorseful in the least!!!
I even love planning other people's Disney trips. Just booked another trip for April and we're thinking about December too!
