Are you a nerd?

I am. I mean, honestly, I'm almost 28 years old, and today I was thinking about all the incredibly nerdy stuff I do.

Here is a list of some of the nerdy, geeky things I do/like/enjoy :

History
Science
Egyptology (which I guess you could also file under history)
Dungeons and Dragons (and other role playing games)
Renaissance Faires
Pirates
Going to the zoo
Cartoons
Toy stores
Weird music (like Leonard Nimoy's Ballad of Bilbo Baggins)
Driving around listening to silly songs in my car and singing along
Computers

So , what are some nerdy/geeky things you like? And if you are nerdy / geeky, are you proud to be a nerd/geek?

Oh totally. I worked in computer field, and proud of the techie talk and stuff I know. I HATE it when they say girls can't do math. I watched Nova (well, it's actually really cool) and read Wired magazine cover to cover. I'm proud of being a nerd.

In the last week, I've
fixed and played around with my computer registries
downloaded programs and played around with
read 3 different software manuals
did 6 jigsaw puzzles
watched endless hours of Stargate-SG 1 on Sci-fi
dreamed about the killer computer room I'd have if I won the lottery.

What should I do, Father?
3 Hail Marys everyday for a week? OK I can do that!

Ooooh , I forgot to list jigsaw puzzles. I used to be a jigsaw puzzle junkie...too hard now because my dog would steal all the pieces.

I go on shockwave everyday to do their daily jigsaw puzzle. It's small but not bad to do while I have data/reports processing in the background.

My husband and I prefer the term "geeks" to nerds Mostly techie geeks here, but I also dive into a few other things like LOTR, reading books on relationship studies and other strange "boring" reads. I'm okay with being a geeky girl.. gives me some interesting things to talk about

As an aside... The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins is a classic

My idea of a nice evening is both of us here on our computers surfing the web and planning our next WDW trip...

I bore everyone with pictures of my kids and grandkids...

I love listening to Big Band Music and researching the WWII era...

-I've gotten up 8 hours early to go online to get movie and concert tickets
-I obsess over things
-I love argyle
-I love my computer and have cried when the internet goes down
-I know computer terms...like RAM and whatnot
-I use proper grammar and spelling on-line
-I have more than one computer in the house hold
-I've hacked on to my friends bad websites (It was a joke)
-I have a hard drive dedicated to MP3s
-I have a Live Journal


All this and I am only 13 :'(

I do/have done all of this as well ... In addition:
- I've had an email address for more than 8 years
- I've installed blog software on my own website, because I wasn't happy with LiveJournal's interface
- I own at least 8 domain names, for various projects that I'm in various stages of completing
- I listen to music that a lot of people would consider strange (big band, folk, bluegrass, Sousa marches, etc)
- I've produced (and won awards for) Cable Access TV shows
- I've done theatrical tech work
- I own at least 2 leatherman tools, and a ratcheting screwdriver
- At one point, I wore my keys on a belt clip
- I carry Cat5 ethernet cable, AND a crimp tool in my backpack
- At one point, my belt accessories included 2 cell phones (1 work, 1 personal), a leatherman, a mini maglite, a set of keys, and a PDA (thankfully, I've stopped carrying a lot of this stuff on my belt)
- I know the lyrics to O Canada, and I'm working on learning the french

(However, despite all this, I'm not a nerd, I prefer the term geek )
