Well I had to vote "other"

although we only stay on property...we have never purchased mugs...we just bring in our own to fill! ONLY KIDDING!!

Since we drive up to Orlando and we like to have drinks readily available in our room we bring a cooler packed with us!

Sounds like an urban myth.

This kind of cracked me up, though. What would happen if someone without a bar-coded mug would use theirs? Would sirens go off? :rotfl: We bought mugs this past December, and I don't recall a barcode on them. If I have room to pack them for our next trip to All Stars (whenever that is), they're coming with. Otherwise, they're staying home.

The machines at the waterparks don't work unless you scan the barcode first.

We were HUGE mug 'abusers'. We still have our 2 Contemporary mugs we bought in 1995 - we stayed there almost every trip since then - usually 3 or 4 times a year. When we purchased, they said nothing about it being for that trip only. Up until our last WDW stay before our move down 1 year ago, we always took those CR mugs back and used them!

Didn't Disney go to some type of bar-coding a few years back to prevent returns on subsequent trips? I thought I had read that.
Any correctness to that, the bar-code?

::yes:: Those are at the waterparks Dan. They have a mug you can purchase now that's good for refills for that day only, it has a bar code on it and you have to scan it at the refill station for each fill.

So what if I have a Pop Century mug that I use when we pool-hop there? I don't use it at the Poly when we swing by to watch the fireworks from the beach!

;)

I've only recently started posting, but I've been reading here for about 2 years. This subject is so played out. I never bring the mug from home to reuse. I just don't want to pack the thing.

We have never bought a mug. Probably will for our December trip, though. I can see myself sitting in that Wilderness Lodge lobby drinking hot chocolate every evening! :) Not sure if we'll buy one or two. DH drinks coffee and I don't so we may buy two.

Do you think we need a Mug Abusers Anonymous meeting? We can meet at the Poly beach.

I have never purchased a mug, we only live an hour away so bring our own drinks with us. If they had mugs for the parks, that might be a different story, but I would only get one if you could use it at all the parks at all your trips (like Universal/IOA and Busch Gardens do). Not worth the money to me otherwise.

How's this for mug abuse... I pack trading pins in my mug when I pack the mug in the suitcase, then that darn mug gets jostled and banged up in the cargo hold of an airplane.

When we get to the resort, it finally sees the light of day. At the end of the trip, it gets stuffed with more trading pins again and stuffed in a dark suitcase again only to be shoved on a shelf at home.

Now that's mug abuse! ;)

Hi, my name is Karen and I'm a mug abuser...............................

Ah - my mistake. I thought we were talking about resort mugs.

There must be a special corner of hell waiting for those who return with the waterpark refillable mugs. ;)

I follow the rules. Although with my first mug we were told that they would always be good and were not for length of stay. It would never occur to me to pack it though I need the space for more souveneirs. :)

I don't plan on taking my mug back. To be honest I need a new one any way, I use the old one at home too much as it is!!

I didn't know US had park mugs! We have an All Park Mug for the Silver Dollar Parks. I love it! They encourage you to bring it back year after year. It is $1.50 to refill. It would be nice if Disney did that too! :cheer2:

Not me. We always bring them home and use them to death so we opt out of bringing them the next trip and get new ones!

I'll save some chairs for us - I'll be the one in the hammock! ;)

It's actually a very large sports bottle rather than a mug, but same concept.

:ssst: Was at Pop this summer and we are returning to Pop this September...and I'll have the same mug...sorry to all of the die hard mug people. ;)

It was interesting. On my last trip to Pop Century, there were people refilling their Universal mugs at the drink station. That bothers me but no one said anything to them.

I voted other. I follow the rules that were in place when I purchased the mugs. In 1992 when we bought mugs at CBR - that meant free refills for life at CBR. We've stayed at CBR many times and always use our mugs. Same deal with our Port Orleans mugs, free refills on subsequent stays at THAT resort. On our first stay at the Poly in 2003 I purchased mugs and the condition was that it was good for free refills on that trip only, and that is how we used them.
