Are you a "lurker"?

I miss a ton of DISers out there. There were some really nice people posting that I haven't seen in a long time :(

You know, it is so comforting to me to know that I am not the only one who feels the exact same way. When I make a post that doesn't get many replies I wonder what I have done and why people don't like me. I know a lot of the time it really has to do with time of day that the post is made as well as the subject, but still I wonder why there are no responses really.

Oh and being a thread killer is just the worst feeling. I think one time I started a thread and then a few replies later, I killed it myself  What a terrible feeling that was.

Dawn, I like this thought "They say acceptance of a problem is half the battle." Actually that is so very true. I used to lurk a heck of a lot more than I do now and then someone (who eventually became a very very good friend to me) pushed me a little to post more. I realized that I had to push myself to be a little less shy. I do that... now I just have to get over that fear of starting threads

I'm with Planogirl... jump in... don't worry about killing threads or anything like that :) The vast majority of the poeple here are very nice and very welcoming to all :)

Definitely more of a lurker here, as my post count shows! Read everyday, post sometimes, rarely start threads though.

Yes to an extent I am a lurker. Well I have fallen into lurker mode for the last few weeks. I post every now and again. Some days I have a posting "frenzy" and others I may one post to 1 or 2 threads. :)

I lurked a lot for the first year or so after finding this board and only started posting more during the last 6 months. I'm still hesitant about starting new threads and am way too intimidated to ever post on the Debate Board (that can be a tough crowd!)

But, I've felt I've gotten to know folks better the more I post.

And, for those of you nervous about posting on the thread killers post, we love new posters and we need you. For all of our claims of being thread killers, we have had absolutely no luck killing that pitiful thread and have lately resorted to feeding ourselves as we wait around for someone to have better luck.

Nice to see some less common/new posters on this board. Glad to hear from you guys.

Saphire- I totally understand what you said!!

That being said, I am for the most part a lurker. My posting comes in spurts, especially if I have a trip in the works (like I do now). With a new baby at home, it's hard to post a lot, but I plan on trying to change that.

This is a great post for all of us shy lurkers!! Sort of like baby steps for the DIS.

Meg:D

 Hi fellow lurkers!
I have been reading these boards for quite awhile. It was almost a year before I even registered. I still tend to be a lurker but I have been posting more and more. Still don't start threads too often, but like others have said, that is how I am in RL too. I also try to steer clear of heated issues on the boards (I like to read them just not actually post on them ;) ).

I do love this place, though. 99% of the people are very friendly, you get to hear some hilarious stories, share in people's new babys, weddings, etc. and talk Disney all you want without getting those looks from non-wdw fans. Now I just hope I don't kill this thread :teeth: !

i'm more lurker than poster around here...until i find something i really want to talk about...but i do tend to bug the heck out of the swan/dolphin cheerleaders. :teeth: i just won't leave them alone...hehehe

I am very nice...just ask me :)

Count me in as a frequent lurker and infrequent poster. I do enjoy checking this Board to see what is going on and if I have anything of value to add. I am a little shy about posting because many of you seem to really know one another and I guess I, too, am shy.

Most of my many posts come from my regular posts over at the Resorts Boards.

Mouseteacher, I have never met any other DISer in person. We all fake it very well (that we know each other)

We get to know each other via posts. ALthough, many have met each other. I like to keep people in suspence...or maybe it is a wall I have up so they don't get to meet me in person :)

jamsmom~ Don't get me wrong - I know that everyone is very nice. I guess I have found my comfort zone over at the Resort Boards. However, I do enjoy reading the info, support and advice that is given here.

;) Just dawned on me... I have jumped in, haven't I? :)

I used to post on this board quite a bit but... I've been spending a lot more time on some of the other boards recently.. Things haven't been "quite right" here for awhile now so I just stop by every now and again to scan over the threads and usually only post a reply if it's something I'm particularly interested in..

I lurked for quite awhile on this board. I'm starting to feel more comfortable with posting and I even started a thread! Still more of a lurker on the WISH board though.

I'm a lurker. I just registered last month after finding the Dis in Jan. of this year(first time with internet access). I check out the boards almost every day and have posted some and I've even started some threads. I'm very shy in person but I find that I can be more outgoing on the Dis. I stay away from the debate board though!
