Are you a guest or a customer?

You are correct about universals system. The staff communicates to each other and knows what is available. If there was a line to be seated they held the line of people going to get food. VERY organized.
<snip>
We planned to go to pizzafari at lunch time and the line extended out the door. Sure there is a person at most places controlling who goes to what order window, but it seems they could care less if there is a place for you to sit and enjoy it

I have to ask if there's some magic way Universal can have one's order ready instantly, that makes restricting access to ordering the food more efficient than restricting access to the tables when ready to actually eat? And how do people who feel the whole family shouldn't have to wait in the ordering line react? With Disney's system, there isn't a line waiting to be seated.

Did you check the seating situation at Pizzafari? I'm only aware seating is restricted at some counter service locations and only during peak travel/meal times - but it's possible Pizzafari would do the same if busy enough.

we will not eat at overly busy places because it is just to dang stressful but I was wondering..

if everyone waits in line, gets the food, then goes to sit and eat.. once done and it is ice cream time does everyone have to clean up and leave the table and then relocate to a new table when they get their ice cream?

Restricted seating is primarily used at Cosmic Ray's and Pecos Bill's,at peak travel times during peak meal periods. Neither location offers frozen dessert menu items.

This thread serves as a great example of rationalizing rude behavior. We are all guilty of it, just observing that people at Disney are a reflection of our society, and just because one is financially successful enough to afford Disney doesn't give you manners.

The most wonderful time is to be had at Disney by filtering out the customers, and really enjoying the magic with the other guests.

Every person who passes through the gates with a paid-for ticket is a customer. The "guests" are the people whom Disney invites to come down for a spell, free of charge. The Super Bowl MVP and his family are probably "guests". The rest of us?? Not so much. If you are a shareholder, your profit depends on Disney selling its products to customers. This fantasy land that you have created where going to WDW transforms people into non-paying guests who have accepted an invitation to show up free of charge is absurd. "Guests" don't pay to attend an event. Last time I checked, Disney charges people to use its facilities. And the notion that people who pay to get in to the parks are somehow inferior to invited guests is equally absurd. Every time I go, I encounter perhaps 99% of the people who are customers and maybe 1% who are guests of Disney. I have never noticed any difference in behavior.

Just got back from Disney and I can confirm that Peco Bills does not allow you to sit down unless you already have food, which to me is absolutely ludicrous. But I guess according to the OP that makes me rude or something.

There was a guy standing at the seating area and he was not allowing people in without food. I told him this, and I didn't feel the least bit bad when I said it "If I buy all this food for my wife and 6 YO daughter and there's nowhere to sit, I am going to be very pissed off at you sir."

When we got our food, and were walking around looking for a table that was not to be found, I immediately walked toward the guy. On our way to me complaining to the guy, a miracle happened and one table got up right in front of us so we grabbed it before the 5 other families walking around could get it. This was on Thursday, June 26th, and it was a helluva way to leave WDW as we were going over to US for the next couple days. Needless to say, we left WDW with a very bad taste in our mouths.

If they want to make sure people have seats then they should kick people who aren't eating out of the restaurant after a couple minutes. Wouldn't the guy who is standing there keeping people out of the eating area without food be better used by kicking people out of the eating area who are DONE THEIR FOOD????
