Are wetsuits allowed in resort pools in winter?

My kids have shorty wetsuits and we were wondering if they're allowed in the pools in winter. We will be at BC and Dolphin. I've heard that Dolphin's pools can be icy, but I have also heard that neoprene is not allowed in resort pools. (Haven't found anything official on that, though.)

Thanks!

Seriously - have you been in FL in the dead of Winter :). Generally, coldest days.... a bone chilling 60 F :).

Kids are going to be fine :). And if you really want to use a neoprene Wet Suit, I can't imagine why anyone would have a problem - beyond possible overheating :). No effect on others.

The pools at WDW are wonderful. We are in our 60's, and don't use these that much..... But we have seen MANY happy children do so - in the middle of February :). No wet suits :)

Vacation in MI in February? Oh yes - bring the wet suits - and an Ice Pick:). An Ice AXE would not be an over reaction :).

We figured as much. I'm not super worried about it. We used to live in Scotland and went swimming in the North Sea with highs in the low 60s. But I have heard that the Dolphin's heating is sometimes not working or super inadequate.

Yes, I have been in Florida in the dead of winter. We tent camped at Fort Wilderness during that insane cold snap in 2010 (lows of 22-25 overnight) and between that and having *lived *in FL, I know that if there is one thing you can count on about the south, it's that you can never count on the weather. My kids are used to Texas temps right now, so if there are highs in the 50s, they might get a chill. (Two get cold very easily.) But we're at Beach Club and they are insistent on swimming in Stormalong Bay. If you're acclimated, as you are, it makes a huge difference.

So while I appreciate your advice, I just want to know if they are ALLOWED, not if they are needed. Every family is different. (I've heard that neoprene is not allowed because of the lack of drag on water slides. No confirmation on that yet though.)

FYI for others who might want to know, Dolphin just confirmed to me that neoprene shorties are definitely allowed.

Also, we were in FL last Oct. at the Hyatt Grand Cypress and most of the pool is not heated. It was a warm week (we roasted in our Halloween costumes) and we couldn't get a whole foot into the unheated portion of the pool. It was so icy. So I definitely want to know if our wetsuits (shorties) are an option.

That December (wasn't even actually winter!!!) was scarring! It was out first Orlando trip.

If you're going on slides and the neoprene does stick it's not going to be fun.

And since the water is set to 80 the water feels good. It's the parts out of the water that will be miserable! (We swam a few times during that 2010 trip)

That was the worst not-even-winter! We all got norovirus, our youngest had a seizure and was taken by a Reedy Creek ambulance (that seemed to pop out of nowhere in the middle of Fort Wilderness) to Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital. Our stroller was stolen, I lost my backpack....Disney must have felt for us because they moved us to a cabin for a few days while we recovered. And OMG it. was. COLD! So cold that all of the plants at Epcot were covered up. Crazy times!

We're going to get the kids new swim parkas and just have them wear swim caps. That should help keep them from freezing when they get out of the water. We'll take the wetsuits for Dolphin and do reg suits at Stormalong Bay. :)
