Are welcome bags necessary...

We are having over 100 guests at our wedding too with over half of them flying in. We are giving our Welcome bags per room/ reservation. We've decided to deliver them to the resorts then send a text when they arrive to ask for them. I personally think it's a nice touch, a lot of our guests are 1st time visitors so we wanted to throw in a little magic on top of the Disney magic. :goodvibes

I have about 100 guests also. We are doing welcome bags too - one per family also. This amounts to about 50 bags.

I'm also not doing them for the guests who are only coming to the wedding (we are having a welcome party the night before) - but we've had great response to the welcome party idea, so this is only about 3 people that are only going to the wedding day stuff, lol.

For disney resort guests I'm going to deliver them to the resorts. For off site guests I'm going to bring the bags to the welcome party. I think its a nice touch, and its been fun designing them and finding stuff to put in them.

What's in mine (or will be when the bags get here, lol):
1. Tote bag with logo, our names and date, in wedding colors (pink and green)
2. Maps of each park
2. buttons - first time and "we're celebrating"
3. Mickey stickers (the free kind)
4. hot sauce with custom label (I love hot sauce, so a lot of people will get the joke - hopefully)
5. Bottled water
6. Snacks - TBD
7. Stuff for kids if any (there are only 8 kids coming, so I just hit the target dollar section)
8. Updated newsletter and schedule of events

I think it's great if you want to do them, but I did not. I took Carrie's (aka Lurkyloo) advice and didn't do them. Two weeks before the wedding, I sent a little newsletter that had the schedule, contact info and a window cling that I had printed for them to stick on their hotel window. Worked like a charm and (for me) gave me one less thing I had to spend time or money on.

I did not get married in Disney but in the outerbanks so everyone traveled. I did do welcome bags and I did 1 per family and I had 50-60 bages to do. I ended up getting mesh beach bags at old navy (at the end of the summer) for like 5 cents each. Everyone got a beachtowel. Got these marked down between $1-$2. I made bottled water with labels with our pics and wedding date. Made little notepads with our pic. Had pencils made up. Included sunscreen (that I got at the dollar store), snacks beach toys and not sure whatelse.

To this day (5 years later) people still talk about the awesome bags. They didnt cost me a ton and they sure made an impression. I decided to do these instead of a wedding favor that no one will use.

I haven't done them.

I did send out a pack to everyone a couple of weeks ago that has all the info on welcome meal, our schedule, wedding day map, best day guide etc etc.

But I have lots of guests arriving before we do. Some on I drive, some in villas.

The logistics of it would stress me out. And I don't want to lug all the stuff with me from the UK.

Our colors are pink and green too! These Lands End totes are the ones I chose:

We are going to have them embroidered with our wedding date and our names with a saying, "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes..."
