Don't get me started. One reason I moved out of NYC was all the post 9/11 BS we had to live with.
"Don't let the terrorists win, go about your lives as normal..."
Yeah, uh, we lost that fight. The biggest culprit in creating a paranoid nation, was the US government and law enforcement... because a scared populace is easy to win over. "We're repealing some amendments... in the interest of national security."
I used to love hearing the stories of photogs being hassled by security guards that felt (for whatever reason on that particular day) their buildings could not be photographed in the interests of security. EVERYTHING that was a "security concern" was because of 9/11. EVERYTHING the NYPD did was in the interests of preventing another 9/11. Sign on bridge: "it is illegal to photograph the bridge."

Glad we have all those reference pics from before they passed the law banning this shot. How do we secure a target vulnerable from 360* of sea, air, land, and space??? Duh, we ban pictures, no pictures today. (say that last part in a stupid voice for effect)
There really is a sheer stupidity that has come to power in that area of the country... although now that I think of it, there is a good amount of that stupidity spread around the country as well.
I especially love things like this poster. "Suspicious photographer". How in the heck did he get to such a "secure area"? He must have subdued all the police with his "tripod". His AF beam shut down all the security cameras. Thank God he brought his camera instead of a shoulder fired missile... today.
You know those terrorists, they stand in front of their potential target with a zoom lens. Just like they discuss their attacks in various online chat forums. That's why 9/11 happened... the FBI and CIA were reading the wrong forums on 9/10.
I remember a sales pitch I got one day: "the property has been designed to prevent a rocket attack from the perimeter..."
Thank god the TSA has been formed to replace those awful guards we used to have. I remember one guard who had a discussion with me on how to do something bad to a plane with something I had for carry-on, which he didn't understand why it was allowed. I thanked him for the tip.
