Are we going to make it?

Will we make that dining reservation?

Hi Everyone - Hoping for some info from the hive mind on this scenario:

We currently have a 9:50a FP+ for 7DMT @MK...
AND a 10:25a breakfast reservation at 'Ohana.

Have I just committed a planning faux pas? Are we going to make it? Would you recommend resort monorail, boat, or other (swimming, personal quadcopter, Uber, etc.?).

Obviously I'd check into the FP+ at 9:45, and I believe we can check-in to breakfast until 10:40a. But still...is this going to work. I'd LOVE for someone to knock my stress down a couple of notches.

Thanks!

Replying to a couple of questions: Party:
2 Nimble 60-somethings
2 Nimble 30-somethings
1 Almost 5-yo who would be in a stroller for this miniature foot race :-)

MK Opening: 8:00a

You didn't tell us the composition of your traveling party. If you have young children who are not in strollers, I'd say you are pretty much dead in the water. If older, quick walking children, you might make it.

I agree, rope drop 7DMT, change your FP+ to something a little less crazy (in terms of lines) and you MAY just make it. As you seem to be going in a week's time (according to your banner) you may be lucky with the crowd levels, but it's a risk. I am stalking the cancellation thread on here for a 1900 Park Fare next month, and it seems Ohana and BOG are the most frequently cancelled, so changing your ADR to slightly later may be a possibility too.

Why not rope drop 7DMT and then go to the ADR? I think it is kind of crazy though because that is about all you would be able to do. Long lines everywhere after you got back to a park.

I agree. Why get all the way to MK, putting up with the hassle of getting thru transportation and security, to turn around and go all the way out after one or two attractions. A huge waste of time IMO

Yeah - there's a good chance that you won't even be out of MK to transportation to get you to Poly by 10:25 a.m.

I tend to allot 20-30 minutes per ride that I have FP+ for in my touring plans. Lines back up, rides go down, people take longer to load/unload. And 7DMT is dead-center furthest part of the park, so you'll have to walk all the back to the front like a salmon swimming upstream through people entering the park. I wouldn't expect to make an ADR at Poly until at least 10:50-11 a.m. with a 9:50 FP+.

Also, that early the only transportation option may be the ferry - when I was there two weeks ago and tried to leave MK at 10:30 a.m., monorails were only running one way (they weren't allowing boarding for the resort OR express monorails at MK), so I had to take the ferry back and then walk over to Poly.

You likely won't make it.

Yes, you can probably still get seated if you're late, but you'll probably have to wait quite a bit longer.

On a side note, as a server, one of my biggest pet peeves is when people make reservations that they know they'll be late for. It really screws things up for the staff.

It seems like a lot of trouble to get all the way into MK and to 7DMT, only to have to leave the park before 10:25am. After you get out of your 7DMT ride, it will still be a great time in the morning to enjoy the relatively shorter lines on various attractions.

I would probably just grab some breakfast before heading to the park, and not leave Magic Kingdom until lunchtime. Disclaimer: I hear people say that 'Ohana breakfast is amazing, but since I haven't eaten there, I really don't know what I'm missing.

You could still have a 10-15 minute wait (at best) for 7DMT, then adding in the time to ride, you will probably be getting OFF the ride at 10:25. I would cancel it because I would be too stressed about rushing to get to the ADR to actually enjoy the ride.

Disney does not have an official Grace Period. If you are late any number of things can happen. They may seat you right away. They may seat you with a wait. They may tell you you missed your slot and you will still get charged the No Show fee.

And technically, you are supposed to check in to your ADR 10 minutes ahead of time. So you should be there by 10:15.

Sorry I can't knock your stress down any! But I don't think what you have planned will work.

You miiiight squeak by, but it's pretty unlikely.

7D: 10 mins for FP line & ride = 10:00 (line usually moves pretty fast.)
Ten minute walk to front of park = 10:10 (you're going against the arriving crush)
Wait for boat = 5min? = 10:15
Boat ride = 10 min? (Includes stop at GF) = 10:25

Then you still have to walk to restaurant.

You might luck out and walk up right as the boat is boarding. Or you might encounter delays everywhere - a ride stop on 7D. A wait for the boat. Slow boat boarders. A long stop at GF.

I don't think I'd risk it.
(If you do - definitely don't monorail. You'll miss it for sure. If it was GF, you'd have a slightly better chance with the boats... but Poly is second stop.)

Something has to be moved.

If you want that breakfast ADR time at Ohana I would say you need to RD 7DMT or find a FP for after your breakfast.

Good luck!

Agree with everyone else, way too close.

OP, I'm sure you have your reasons, but for me there is NOTHING about an Ohana breakfast that could get me to turn around and immediately leave the MK during prime morning park time. I'd grab a cinnamon roll from Gaston's and truck on! :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

Also, I find Ohana tends to have a decent amount of availability pop up the day before. If you're absolutely set on this plan, keep checking right up until your date for a later Ohana time. Those late breakfasts are less popular and I suspect you'll see a lot more availability than you do now.

That's cutting it really close, I don't like being late for anything so I think the stress it would cause wouldn't be worth it...I would try to shift something to a different time....

If you hustle you should be fine. I'm the late type & have showed up 15-20 minutes late at many WDW restaurants without an issue. I've shown up 20 minutes late to Ohana and been seated. I'd go for it if I were you & couldn't get another Ohana ADR. Arrive at 7DMT 5 minutes early.

Do keep trying to get a more convenient Ohana ressie using Touring Plans free reservation finder service. But if you can't get one, just do the plan you described above.
