Are we going to love CR Tower?

I had always envied the people I saw getting off the monorail at the Contemporary at the end of a long day. So when I got the 7 for 4 deal, I had to book the CR Tower room.

I have a 9 year old boy and a 7 year old girl. They both are going to be pin trading for the first time. They both love going to the pool. Are we going to love the CR?

You will LOVE it!! That is our favorite place - our home away from home!!

There is a nice pool for the kids with a water slide and fountains. The water isn't too deep. There is a nice pin station in the lobby and I believe on Friday nights they have a special pin trading event for kids. The arcade is fun, too. My kids have fun there in the evenings. They can play games for tickets and turn them in for prizes. We tried the Poly in August and the arcade was dirty and many of the games were broken - with no signs and no CMs around so money was just lost.

We love the MK view - you don't get a better view of the castle anywhere. If you prefer MK view make sure you request it with CRO before you check in - just to increase your chances. We have always got the view requested. The Electric water parade passes on the bay lake side in the evenings. It is so neat to walk all the way to the end of the pier and get a great, close up view of it. We have also seen it from our MK view room - maybe as it is playing for another resort - but we could even hear it.

You can see the Wishes fireworks and even hear some of the music from your balcony.

There is nothing like waking up to a view of the castle and the magic kingdom.

It is also so convenient to be able to walk back and forth to the MK. We do that if we stay for Wishes - that way we don't have to join the rush for the monorail. We just dink around on main street, pick up a treat at the candy shop, and take a slow walk back to the resort.

I could go on and on..... You will just feel like you are in the middle of all the magic and excitement.

And of course there is Chef Mickey's. Another kid favorite!

Have a great stay!!!

We have stayed YC, BC, Swan, Poly. Nothing beats the CR.

I am so envious of the 7 for 4 deal!! How did you get that?

We also loved the CR tower. WE were only there for 2 nights, after a 5 night at AKL, but I cannot wait to go back for a longer stay at CR-t. The atmosphere is alive and vibrant, the monorail coming through is exciting, the restaurants right there are great, the rooms are large, the balcony view is breathtaking. The gift shops are large, too, with a big selection of items, more than any other deluxe I've stayed in. At night, the castle is lit up, and you can see Wishes, it's just magical.
We didn't have time to use the pool, but it's cute, and very Walt Disneyish, nothing spectacular, but it's shaped like Mickey after all!

Have a great time, you're going to LOVE it! I wish I were going, too!

We love the tower. We've stayed in a parkview room two different times - the latest was in May.

You'll love watching the castle change colors at night, Wishes from your balcony and waking up to a view of the park waking up.

You can see the electrical light parade and hear the music.

The pool is fun - DD11 loved it (says it's the perfect temperature after the afternoon in the parks.

All three restuarants are wonderful and Chef Mickey's is so much fun.

The monorail is wonderful and adds to the magic. Pin trading is a plus.

We'd stay there everytime except for the cost. Our next visit will be to AKL with a great email rate. But we'll be sure to stop in at the CR to visit.

Enjoy.

We were there in August and my 6 and 7 year olds loved it - the pool / beach area was great and we could have quite easily spent all out time there.

We are going back again next August so that says it all.

Enjoy

I went to the CR annually with my parents from 1984 when I was 8 years old, up until about 1998 when I started traveling on my own as an adult.

I think your kids (and you) will love it. :) You can even walk to the MK. That is so neat.

I assume that you've looked at pictures of the room decor on allearsnet. I think that it is not some folks' cup of tea. We, on the other hand have a bright chartreuse 50's sectional in our family room, so I like the decor.

You are right about the decor! I didn't want to mention that and scare anyone off!!

The atmosphere of the whole place makes up for it.

It is fun and funky and wild(tacky, maybe) - but so what - it's vacation.

Have fun with it!

If you get a view of the MK make sure you turn your tv to channel 20 during WISHES you can then hear the music while watching the fireworks.

LOVE IT... :Pinkbounc

Hello!

We were there April 2004 on the 11th floor facing MK. We had a super time there. Loved watching the fireworks from our balcony. My DD - 5yrs old, would sit there watching the fireworks, with her beverage in hand, and just take it all in. She would turn to me and say, "Mom this is the best thing ever!" I will never forget her happiness and joy she felt at those moments. I hope I have created some special memeories for her. Hope you have a great time and enjoy! :D

Yes, it's wonderful. We just got back.

Ask for a room on the 11th floor. It's as high as you can go without staying concierge. Either MK or Bay view is wonderful. (We were on the 14th floor and had a bay view. It was cool seeing the water parade from our room. We went to the lounge to see the fireworks. In the lounge, the music was on channel 20 on the TV. I don't know if it's on all the TV's or just that one.)

The pool will be great for your kids. It was a bit hard with my 5yo who doesn't swim. (I had to "swim" her all the time.)

Be sure to take the Blue launch boat to FW and WL to explore. They are both just a few minutes ride. If your kids are under 80#'s, they can have a pony ride. ($3, closed toe shoe required.) Hours 9-5. Trails End is a great place for an inexpensive meal (no PS's accepted.) And of course, your kids will love Whispering Canyon Cafe at WL. ;) :p

I really like the CR. My family has been there twice and it is really our favorite resort. For the kids you have the great pool, and the video arcade that I think is the one of the best around without a doubt! You also have CHEF MICKEYS which if you are taking kids in my opinion is a must! The shops are nice, and for the grown ups you have the California Grill. If your staying in the tower make sure and email or fax the CR(their number is on their website, and ask for a view of the MK.

The second time we went we had a view of the MK and it was amazing. I felt like I could just reach out and touch space mountain. Every night except one we were at our balcony watching the fireworks. It was truly an unforgetable experience.

Have a great time!!

I was at CR in June and got a free upgrade from garden wing room to the tower. I have stayed in the wing rooms 4 times because I didn't think the tower was worth the extra money. Now it will be difficult to ever go back to a wing room. The rooms are the same, but the tower is so convenient and the view whether on the MK side or lake side is wonderful. Every morning we would leave the room and see the monorail directly across the concourse.

You will be in the backyard of MK---our trip to CR tower was fabulous!!!! You will love it and love being so close to the monrail ENJOY!

I have promised myself no matter what my next stay is at the CR tower, no matter what. I've been wanting to stay there since summer of 1972, but one thing or another has always stopped me.

Sounds familiar! From the first time I saw the CR on the "Wonderful World of Color" special in '71 or '72, I wanted to stay there.

My first WDW visit was in 1992, but it wasn't until this past February that I stayed at the CR - Tower, naturally. View was wonderful, atmosphere was wonderful, service was wonderful. It may be a while before I stay there again, but it will always feel like 'home'.

If the rumors of a DVC at the CR come true, it may be hard to pass up - except they almost certainly won't be in the tower.

We also love the tower - only tough decision is that we also love the view on both sides!! You will love the room sizes. Also, at the end of a long day at MK, its a short ride home!! We'll be there on Jan 4-8 before heading to SSR for a week.

If by chance you wind up with a Bay View, you won't be disappointed. It is quite beautiful - peaceful. You can see the boats from the Marina, the pool, the electric boat parade (whatever that's called.)
