We just signed for 220 points at the VWL and we are very excited about it! Thanks for terrific advice that has been posted. It has helped us tremendously! But...I am already thinking that we should have added another 50 points! Is it crazy to do an add-on (for only 50 pts) when we haven't even received the deed for the first 220? I think I am becoming too obsessed with these points!

We added on a small amount after our initial purchase. After analyzing our future needs, it was obvious we under estimated and needed 25 more points. I think it is better to start off conservative, then go ahead and get more if it works for you. Ask yourself why you need more though? Your answer will tell you whether you should go ahead with it or not. As I've learned from this board however, you can't have enough points! :)

Are you now in the closing process? If you have simply signed for the points, you can call and request a new contract for more points. That is what we did when we determined that we needed additional points. It did delay the closing process, but we are now satisfied with our point total, (for now). ;)

We bought BWV points on our trip in 96, when we returned home we decided that we wanted more. We called our guide, we could not add-on BWV points because they were not legal to sell in NY yet, so we added OKW. They did come through together, but they are separate contracts, it delayed the closing, but not by much. We did two more BWV add on's in the next two trips. I say if you can afford it, add on now, the price just keeps going up, and VWL is going to sell out. (I am sorry I did not buy more BWV points before they sold out)

We intially bought 175 points, and within a week of putting down a deposit on those points, we added on another 50 points! So, I have to say it is not crazy at all since we did it too :D We decided to just do an add on, so if in the future for some reason we needed to sell some of our points, (I don't see that happening, but you never know) we could just sell the add on and keep our other points.

If you are within 30 days of your initial purchase you still get the special interest rate on the new points too!

This is pretty common once you become a member.... You just need to buy more! LOL... Seriously, go ahead and add those points if you think you are going to need them. I'd rather buy now before the price increase...

Good luck!

I have added on 3 times so I definitely don't think you are crazy. Every time I add on, it doesn't seem like I have enough points. . .

hi mkkim: you're not crazy, you're addicted! just like the rest of us. we did another add-on before the price increase last fall.

I added on three times since Oct/00! The one thing that keeps me in control is the payment of the dues. (Otherwise, I'd just keep adding on!) :)

Thanks for the advice! It's nice to see that there are others out there that have gone through this! Just buying the original points had me losing some sleep... but I have a feeling we will be letting the original paperwork go through as is and do an add-on next month before the PT increase! This whole deal is addictive! Thanks again!

When it comes to wanting to add more points we are all DVC crazy. You can never have enough.

We added on twice within six weeks of our intial purchase. (50 points each time.)
