consider doing Disneyland in August? It says it's the hottest month but how hot is hot?? We are in Southern Ontario so terribly hot and humid here all summer. Is it going to be crazy busy if we go in the 1st 2 weeks of August?

Thinking of flying into LA and out of Vegas (or the other way around depending on DVC accomodation availability)

I would say that if you're used to hot and humid then the weather shouldn't bother you.

I've heard that the 1st week in August isn't so bad, crowd wise. We went once during the last week in August and it was awful! Way too many people. Plus we are from Seattle area and I have a heart condition, so do NOT do well in heat...and wouldn't you know it, they were having a HEAT WAVE!:headache: Never again!

Typical SoCal weather for this time of year is high 80's/low 90's. However when we were there it was in the 100's. IMO, that's just too hot!

The big plus side to going this time of year is later hours, more shows, parades, events etc. I would say if you do decide to go this time of year, to take a break mid day and cool off back at your hotel pool!:thumbsup2

We do August every year lately and it gets warm, sometimes into the 90'sF but the relative humidity is real low except in the very early A.M. It does get busy, last year not as much as previous years.
Good luck with your DVC booking.

Jack

We go in August ever year, but we love it HOT!!!

We get up early, do the parks, get some fast passes and then go back to the hotel to relax by the pool. :beach:

We return in the evenings and use our fast passes. It works out for us. I agree with blackjackdelta that last year wasn't as busy as years before.

Have fun!

Typical SoCal weather for this time is nowhere near the 90's. It is typically warm - not hot - during the day, high 70s to mid 80s. At night it cools down to the high 50s to high 60s. Bring a jacket - you'll probably need one once the sun goes down.

We've done August several times. We're not used to hot weather but like it to a certain degree. The crowds coupled with the heat can be trying at times. I personally find it difficult to stay in the park open to close regardless of the weather (during extended hours) so I look at the heat as an excuse to leave to park (around 3 or so, come back at 7 or so). Low 90's is what you should expect during late afternoon, but it does cool down very nicely to a comfortable shorts-wearing night!

Don't you refer to your area as the banana or pineapple belt? A friend from that area told me a lot of corn is grown there.

Anyway I'm sure unless you go during a spike in weather you will find it comfortable. Be aware that Vegas may feel scorching.

You're not crazy at all! We visited over the 4th of July weekend last year and had a fantastic time, crowds were very tolerable ~ a lot of this had to do with APs being blocked. Get to the parks early *prior to opening* ride rides and collect FPs *save them for later* take a mid day break/swim/nap and head back later afternoon/early evening for night time entertainment and use those FPs you collected earlier!

We've done it the last two years and it was great. Were there for park opening, took a break in the afternoon and went back at night.

We've done August a number of times. It is hot sometimes, but we're used to that since we live in Northern California. It is not usually humid. Get up early in the morning and do as much as you can before it really heats up, then take a nice long afternoon break. My boys like summer trips because we are more willing to do water rides with them, and they can enjoy the pool and other water play without shivering. Another nice thing about a summer trip is it doesn't cool down too much during the evening, so we don't often have to lug around a bunch of sweatshirts and stuff in case it gets cold later.

We'll probably go in August again this year. We're looking forward to some of the new stuff, i.e. new Star Tours, Little Mermaid, being open and maybe some of the kinks being worked out by then. There will be summer crowds, but that doesn't automatically make the experience miserable. I haven't usually run into summer crowds that are on the scale of spring break the two weeks around Easter or Thanksgiving week.

It's called the banana belt.... It actually refers to an area of Ontario that seems to 'miss' the worst of the snow and be warmer.... we are on the edge of it but have been hit with 20 to 30 cm of snow overnight last night and today! Hate the snow but love having a snow day!!

So looks like it should be manageable - dry heat is much better to deal with then humidity. And crowds hopefully won't be too too bad. We are going to do a 3 day hopper which should hopefully be enough time to do both parks!
