It's official! We're going to WDW for the first time next year from June 15th to the 29th. We have reservations at the Double Tree Suites in Disney Springs. It will be DH, his sister and our two DD's, ages 11 and 7 at the time. The plan is to get 10 day park hoppers for the 4 parks and two water parks. We just got back a week ago from a 5 day trip to Disneyland and were pretty wiped out. DH said he thinks two weeks at WDW is going to be too much, though we're still going to do it. The "plan" for that trip is to enjoy the parks and have some rest days in between. We also will NOT be getting up bright and early EVERY morning. I also brought up the point to DH that we don't have to do everything together on the trip. Example : If he's too tired, then I'll take our girls to Magic Kingdom and he can meet up with us there later in the day. The reason I want to go this long is to really get an idea of what parks we like or don't like. Therefore, if we want to make another trip, we can shorten it and just concentrate on the parks we like. I'm curious to hear what you WDW experts think of my "plan" or what your experiences have been. :thumbsup2

The longer the better. You can do things at whatever pace you like. You can split up rope drops or late nights with lazy days round the pool. We have had 3 trips where we spent 18 nights onsite and in Disney parks. We are also not long back from a 26 night trip to Orlando where we spent 15 nights of it in Disney parks while we stayed at AKL. We are back to 18 nights again next year.

Most people from outside the States do long trips and I've read here where lots of people from here do it as well. I wish I could but I'm lucky to get a week off work. If I were staying off site I'd probably take a day to go to Kennedy and the beach as well.

We've done 2 eleven night trips and both times we still wished we had a couple more days. The only reason we haven't is that my wife only gets 2 weeks vacation, I'm lucky that I get 6 weeks. In 2 more years she'll be up to 3 weeks and once that happens we plan on a 14 night trip.

We are at WDW right now . We are here for 16 nights / 17 days ... last year was 15 nights / 16 days. We love having time to enjoy the parks as well as the resort. We get a 10 day hopper pass and come once a year. This makes it so relaxing and a way to see so much at a good pace (not break neck speed pace:crazy2:). We used to be commandos but now like to stop and enjoy the magic:cloud9:

All I can say is two weeks is still not long enough to do everything! I took two 2 week trips last year and still didn't accomplish everything that was on my list to do.

Aaaahhhh you guys are SO lucky!!!!
I'm going at the end of October for 11 nights/12 days and it's not enough!!!! I wish I could stay longer! :(

Coming from the UK I think it is the norm for us to do two weeks! Granted we do Universal & Islands of Adventure as well, but my partner has repeatedly said he wouldn't want to go for just 7 nights.

We always do two weeks, it is perfect as you can take your time and really enjoy everything. We buy ten day tickets with park hopper and water park option and it's great.

I'm happy to be crazy too :P. Twelve nights planned for our trip in Feb/Mar 2017.... and.... a five to six day trip in Oct 2017 for another visit to F&W. Can't wait!!:yay:
Have fun with your two weeks. :-)

We're doing 14 days this time. 10 day park park hoppers, 2 (3?) at Universal and 1 (2?) shopping/swimming etc.
We don't do rope drop til close, if we're tired at 3 we leave at 3, if the kids are happy til 7 we stay til 7. It's going to be our last trip for several years because we need to go back to England to visit family (probably should have gone there instead of WDW but hey-ho!!) so we're going to make the most of getting away and coming back RELAXED. My friend came back in November and was so exhausted from planning every single minute of their 10 days, that doesn't sound like a vacation to me!!

We did a 12 day trip a year ago and it was too much. We will never do it again. And we stayed on property and my kids were all self sufficient teenagers. The heat, the lines/crowds and the constant going... it really burned us out. DH even left early, on day 10 to get back to work and left me to finish the vacay with the kids and then drive them back to NC. I wanted a vacation when I got home.

I will say we had family and friends down there at the same time so we had to meet up with folks a bunch and we did two FL college tours for our DDs and a day at Universal. So we may have packed too much into the 12 days but we did zero pool time and never made it to a water park even though we hoped to.

My first trip ever was for two full weeks, and like others have said, I still didn't get to do everything!

I am very jealous! I just got back a month ago from 7 days in the parks, and it was not enough! I agree, splitting up at times is a great idea. That way everyone gets to take things at their own pace for a while, and you can all share stories when you meet up later. Of course, your girls a little too young to go off on their own. As others have said, I've found that on longer trips I can take things slower and really savor everything better.

We are there this year for our longest trip at 19 days I can hardly wait! Built in 2 MNSSHP and a 10 day ticket arrival, departure and 4 down days! Probably won't be long enough but forcing ourselves to relax.
