Are we better off without the Debate board?

I understand that in the infinite wisdom of the System administrators the Debate Board was closed. Since that time I have sensed a lot of the anger and frustration from that forum in other forums and threads.

I for one enjoyed the occasional debate over there, but I miss the civility that has diminished (IMHO) since the closure?

So I ask this question in hopes that a consensus might aid the all powerful administrators know our feelings....

I never took part in the debates and never will but I do wish that board was back. I can clearly see a "need" for it!

jmho, but there was hositility periodically (especially around the time of presidential elections) on the cb before the db was closed.

i would love to see the db come back, though.

Nope, not better off without the DB. The pixie dust crowd could use a dose of reality once in a while. The 'debate' type topics broaden their horizons.

I would wander over to the debate board on occasion for a good read. Now, while I do not feel the ousted DBers are responsible for the decline in the CB board lately it just seems more posts are debates because there is not a place to isolate them anymore (the threads, not the posters). I have noticed that even "innocent" threads get much more heated now. I don't know why that is, but debates seem much more prevelant then beofre.....intentional or not.

I guess because its such a hot election year that alot of posts end up turning political thus the debates are spawned......

I agree with caity.

Just a note here though...there has always been hostility of one form or another on the CB. Reopening the DB will not make that go away.
