Are we all just crazy?

Just like most on here.. we go to Disney World so much that we get
"your going there again?" from
family and friends. Well with the daily changes its got me thinking Why? I mean I feel I know Disney and Orlando inside and out. Don't even need GPS to get around anymore. So are we all crazy for not throwing in Hawaii, Mountain trips , other places etc more . I mean last week or so I'm confused. EMH its free just cut back from 3 to 2 hours soon maybe it won't exist, June park hours for MK close at 10 pm or maybe they won't. Miss the old Disney of well a few months ago. It use to be fun to plan. Now you don't know what cost what's free or when they will be open.

I am right there with you. In the past few years we have done other trips, mainly cruises and found that we enjoy them as much as Disney. Since 2000, we have gone at least once a year and sometimes twice, even bought into DVC since we were going all the time. Last year we sold the DVC as the value to fees paid just wasn't there as they increased the point values needed for a stay. Now EMH is almost gone and looks like it soon will be gone. In fact with our upcoming stay, we will not even get a morning EMH at MK as it appears only on Friday and we check out that day to go on a cruise. I sincerely feel that after this trip, we will spread out the time between our trips a little more and offsite will be our plan.

We went west in 2014 for a taste of Disneyland. Last year we road tripped through NY. This year we thought about going back to WDW, but not now! This is just crazy, and we'll wait until the bean counters figure out they're heading in the WRONG direction. At this point, it would be cheaper for us to do Disneyland again and we would enjoy it more than WDW.

I for one am about to email Guest Services. I just booked two rooms at Poly to be near MK in Oct. But if I can't access the park until 10 (with it already crowded) and have to leave by 7 due to MNSSHP, I am going to rethink this trip. They're already charging over $100 per just to get into MK, plus all these ridiculous "extra" hours that were free literally three months ago when I went to DW in Dec. Not only that, but their blatant greed is really disgusting and I'm not sure I want to be part of it annually if this is the way it's going to be.

I am pretty sure it still is 9:00AM entrance. The only impact is if you were going to rope drop Peter Pan or use BOG to get SDMT first. Neither of these will work any more.

You'll still get I'm at 9. I'm sure the 10am for the morning stuff is how late they can eat breakfast for the extra morning magic.

I think as long as Disney has visitors that do return year after year after year, like many people that post here, then yes, they will continue to raise prices outrageously until attendance goes down. Disney used to be a special place that people saved to go to once or twice in a lifetime, and prices rose slowly. Now that so many people make two or three trips a year, Disney knows many of those people will suffer the prices.

Personally, I think you're selling your family short if you never take them anywhere but Disney for vacations.

We have always done more than just disney vacations. The recent changes have made me decide to do disney less often and other vacations more often. Our September trip will likely be a discovery cove vacation. It's such a better value for the money, especially during the off season.

Yes, there are so many places to see! If you have the vacation dollars to go to Disney, then you have a great budget to travel elsewhere.

We've always done both and will continue to do so. When my son was younger I was a single Mom so we went to WDW every other year, it took me two years to save. We stayed on site and back then just the MK resorts existed. The year in between we would take a couple of long weekend trips somewhere here in Georgia or TN or NC so we still had vacations just not the big one like WDW. After I got with my honey, we started diving and started going on diving trips, my son got certified as well and we took him on some, didn't take him on others. I started going once a year instead of every other year after he got grown and married, my honey doesn't travel except to dive so I do solo trips. I found it cost less for me to go to WDW then for me to go to my other go to solo places. Now I go twice a year for F&G and F&W, if my son who has since divorced and gone back to school, can get off school, he goes with me, if not I go solo. We don't go on as many dive trips as we used to, we got a puppy two years ago that was supposed to be for me but honey feel deeply in love with her. He has his own computer consulting business and works from home so he is with her all day. If he goes out, sometimes even on client calls, Ms. thing goes with him. So boarding her for a week is out of the question to him, my son has two dogs of his own and is away from home all day at school/work so leaving her with him is out of the question. So unless, it's a trip to the keys in a rental house that Ms. thing can go to, dive trips are few and far between.

We have been going every other year, and alternating Disney with other vacations - but after all of this news, it may be a few more years until we go back.

We have traveled extensively and even got our kids to all 50 states before they left for college. Disney had become a fun and relaxing ...warm....place for our family. Yesterday I spent researching Universal and cruises. My annual pass ended two weeks ago. I didn't renew it. Considering the mornings I was in MK at rope drop the first week of March I went directly to either Peter Pan or 7D, the announcement of Magic Mornings is not changing my mind. Sigh

For me, it's all about the magic, the feeling of being home, being where we belong.
That being said, we still travel other places (it's also cheaper when you're only paying for yourself,going with friends and not a family of four). We also have all been talking about the ridiculous prices of everything. Even tickets, we went in Feb on a major budget, and now are talking about halloween, and realized we should've spent the big bucks to get the AP's.

We are however taking WAY less trips than before, and not liking the way things are going, Disneyland seems like a far better option to get the magic this year.
