Are we a bunch of escapists?

Great way to describe us...ESCAPIST

That brings up a good question. What is an escapist? Do we have limitations and restraints that we need to free ourselves from? I guess you can never get rid of all of those kind of things so maybe we are more like parolees? Yes... No... maybe So???

Yes, I'm a Disney Escapist, too. And I'm in good company here on the DISboards!!! You guys have such fantastic topics and conversations -- thanks!
and I like to think of my Disney obsession as realizing the value of REAL quality time with my children/family.

Looking forward to my DVC trips (and other holidays) is the only thing that keeps me sane! At least that's my point of view, everyone else isn't so sure

Yes, I'm a Disney Escapist too! We've recently returned from a Disney cruise and a few days at Disneyland, and I've already booked a few days at the new Aulani Resort in October. Everything started when my grandparents first took me to the Magic Kingdom in 1971. Thank you Grandma and Grandpa!:thumbsup2

That would be amazing to have your grandparents take you to Disney. I want to do that for my grandchildren when they start arriving in a decade or so. I want to be the fun... Disney... grandpa! It is going to be awesome! :yay:

Grandpa will be where the family comes to "escape" and enjoy life!!!

I am a psychologist up here in Connecticut. The short answer to: "Are we escapists", is yes! One of the other therapists in my office was listening to me talk about one of our last trips to the world and commented that "Disney is so fake". My reply was "that's the point!" Some people just don't get "it".

My wife and I travel (by car) to WDW several times a year, and always begin thinking about the next trip as soon as we head home - usually it's already booked. Glad I discovered this thread; I was unaware of D-Cot Jukebox. Just registered before posting this.:thumbsup2

D-Cot is awesome! It is playing in my house right now!

Hello...My name is Mark (voices from backround: Hi Mark)
and I am a Disney Escapist, and have been one for many many years.....:thumbsup2

Hi, another escapist here! I think it is probably bad if it interferes with your job. Today while students were practicing rhetorical analysis skills, I had dcot playing. One of my kids commented that her dad has the cd. We started talking about Disney resorts and I had to be the adult and reign us back to our task. Bummer!

ABSOLUTELY!!

Disney is an escape from the real world. When ever we leave Disney property, we say that we are back in the real world

I often tell my coworkers, who define me as a workaholic, that I love WDW because it is the only place in the world, I completely escape from work.:lmao:

:thumbsup2 Resistance is futile…I have been assimilated here…..and the kool-aid doesn’t taste bad either :rotfl: My name is Lucretia and I have an alter ego named ToddyLu....but that is our little secret.

Years ago I heard someone talk negatively about the castle and all of Disney as being "empty". He was trying to say that is was all a facade and there was no true depth to Disney. Disney was a false front. I bought into that for a long time until I got over my pride and took my family on its first trip. Now I understand the value of imagination and seeing beyond the reality of everyday life. Everyone needs a release and Disney provides that necessary product that is far from being "empty". It is fun and bring joy to my heart. It brings my family together and has given us many happy memories.

Hello, my name is Cindy and I am definitely an addict...It's been 168 days since my last visit to the Mouse and not a day goes by that I don't think of my next visit which is in 36 days from today. My downfalls are both DVC and Disney.

I have 2 jobs, 4 kids, a husband and a crazy dog, not to mention the entire house to run, and though it is Friday night and I should really be rounding up my DS16 who needs to get his pencils and calculator ready for his ACT test in the morning, here I am...on the DIS...planning at least three trips (three that DH knows about :rotfl:) and researching and dreaming of what's after or in between all of that.

Hi my name is Terri and I'm a DVC/Disney addict. For 7 years I stayed off property and then I bought... then I bought some more... then I bought some more. Now at 400 points I can truly escape 1 time a year.

I love to escape to these boards because for the most part we're the fraction of society that loves to be happy. And then I REALLY LOVE escaping to WDW. Once I stayed on property I know I could never go back - the total escapism is FANTASTIC!:banana:

No Walmart, no food store, no traffic just Disney bliss.

Yes we are escaping - and we love it:love:
