Are Walking Canes Helpful?

We're taking my dad to WDW for his 74th birthday in October. He's been to the parks many times before and is familiar with the amount of walking. He knows he'll need walking breaks, and we're also staying at BWI so we're close enough to the F&W Action where he can head back to the room if he needs a nap.

My question is that I was thinking of getting him a collapsible cane to help give him some added support throughout the day - Do you think this would help? I'm not too familiar with canes, and I know he'd be fine with the idea, so any insight is helpful!

I use a folding cane it works fine they fold to fit in the pouches in the ride cars. The only problem I had was in very crowded areas my cane was accidentally kicked I didn't fall but if I relied on it for balanced I might have fallen

How about a Rollator? It's basically a walker with wheels. Has a seat if he needs to sit awhile and you can rent them for as little as $40 for the week and as high as $85 per week. And you can leave it with the CM's in the stroller/scooter parking area OR I believe I read that a Rollator is allowed in the queue and the CM with take it for you at the point of getting on the ride. Double check the FAQ section of this board on that last piece. Hopefully someone will let me/us know if that's true or not. I'll re-read the FAQ section myself! :rotfl:

I'm seriously thinking of renting one for my upcoming trip just incase my arthritis in the knee bothers me. :thumbsup2

I don't know if I'd trust leaving a rollator unattended in stroller or ECV parking, though it probably should be ok. It is correct that one may be used through the queue and left at boarding/unload area.

Enjoy your vacation!
