Are vouchers worth it?

We used one last year at MK at Cosmic Ray's ... okay food, not the greatest (we had roasted chicken w/mashed potatoes) We saved a few dollars. We usually only use 2 or 3 Q&C for 10-12 days. I did buy an extra VKL for this year.

Flame Tree has been open seasonally - which usually doesn't mean September. But Tusker House has great food and is a great value with vouchers.

After I read this thread, I read another one and I saw that most thought Flame tree was just "oK". I will switch to Tusker House if that is the case!

Since we are there for 10 days, I thought we might just hit Beaches n Cream twice. That will kill 4 vouchers!! ha!

I really want to have a idea before we go we can use these vouchers for good food. If I only save a couple of dollars that is ok but I do want to enjoy the food!

If we don't use them all, I figure I will just sell them at cost.

We are looking forward to using vouchers at Beaches and Cream also! Looking at your list and from what I've read in other threads on the Restaurant forum, your older children will likely enjoy Pepper Market also. You really shouldn't have trouble needing all your vouchers:teeth:

I wouldn't use the Q&C Vouchers at any resaurant in AK. The special AK food vouchers that include an entree, drink with entree, ice cream and a bottled drink are a better value IMO.

I think the vouchers are a great value. Of course we travel with hungry teenagers who flat refuse the salad I bring in the styrofoam cooler.

You're kidding about the salad in the styrofoam cooler, right? :earseek:

I have used them on my last 3 trips (thanks to all the great ideas I get from the wonderful people here at the DIS) and this is how we do it:

I plan all my days in advance so we know where will be on which day and then we decide which restaurants we would like to try. That is one sit down and one counter serrvice per day. I then look and see if vouchers are available for that restaurant and check the menu for value and if it adds up we buy them and if not I buy a travelers cheques or Disney Dollars for that meal (according to menu). That way all of our meals are paid for in advance and we get to eat where we want when we want. Of course, our children are grown and don't come with us so that doesn't factor in.
We also buy a ton of water, drinks, alcohol, fruit and snacks at the store on the way in from the airport so on long days that sustains us until the next meal. (Somedays we tour from 7am 'til midnight.)
When we are not that hungry we share one meal and when we are starving we each have our own and many times we will get one dessert to go and enjoy it after a late swim.
While I do like to watch my diet - I don't while I am on a Disney vacation! I can diet when I get home.
I know this probably sounds dumb but - I have loved Disney all my life and when I am there I want to see it, feel it, hear it, smell and taste it and I don't want to worry about how much things are costing (or how many calories I am eating) as it is all figured out in advance.
This also ensures seating (at sitdowns) well in advance and saves the time and hassle of where do you want to eat? I dunno - where do want to eat? .. etc., because we already did that at home months ago - LOL!
My daughter has now caught the WDW bug (another Disney lover) so I can always give any leftover vouchers to her for presents -LOL -JK Chrysty!
I have ALWAYS come out ahead using vouchers and I, like some others here use the membership for tons of other benefits including Toys'R'Us gift cards for our 15 neices and nephews for Christmas - each wrapped with a giant hershey bar. Yes, their parents just love us!LOL
Sorry this is so long!

:bored:

Wow Disneysnel! If any more nieces and nephews come along, your husband will have to get a membership too:teeth:

I agree with the pre-planning too for vouchers. I'm pre-planning to be hungry for just half a meal sometimes, however, in the hopes of not packing on too many extra pounds by the time I get home::yes::
