Are unused MYW tix on old KTTW cards transferable?

Hi everyone!

The DISboards have been an indispensable tool for me over the planning of several trips, and now I am going to ask my first question.

I have several old KTTW cards with a single MYW base ticket on them due to purchase of the dining plan. We had other tickets we used at the parks during these trips. This next week we are taking my parents to Disney for their 40th wedding anniversary. They have no tickets yet as I booked our rooms using the AP rates. I was going to buy my tickets through mousesavers/undercover tourist, but then realized I had all of these other tix lying around. Can I use one of these toward each of my parents 8 day PH tix? It would save us quite a bit.

I looked on old threads and found one comment that seemed to indicate I could do this, but since it wasn't the entire purpose of the thread I thought I would verify. Thanks to you all!!! Hope you have a magical trip soon!

I took several 1day base tickets off of KTTW cards last August and we used one of them earlier this month for my niece. I don't think that it would be a problem for you to use those tickets for your parents. It might just take the CM a few more steps to do it.

If your parents use the tickets before you do the upgrade, Disney will apply the gate price to your upgrade. If the ticket is unused, then Disney will apply whatever price you paid for those tickets to the upgrade. In my case, I had paid somewhere in the neighborhood of $65 before taxes for my 1 day tickets. The gate price of a 1 day ticket is now $85 before taxes. Well worth going through the extra step.

I would also recommend that you have a good idea of what your upgrade cost should be. Some CMs don't know how to bridge older ticket to the newer prices. If you don't know what it's supposed to cost, you may end up spending way more than you should.

Added note: You must do the upgrade before you have used up all the entitlements on your ticket. So you will need to upgrade a 1 day ticket in the day that it was used. Otherwise, you will be out of luck.

Thanks so much for your quick reply! Based on the dates our tickets were purchased, we paid $79-85 for each 1 day ticket. So it appears from your post we will pay for anything above our initial ticket investment in dollars to get to the current cost of an 8 day PH. I didn't know if they did it by cost or by additional days. Since yours were $65 1 day tix I thought your final upgrade price should still be $20 cheaper than present day costs.

Another question I just thought of, we aren't sure if we needed 7 day PH or 8 day PH. According to your additional note, I can start with 7 day PH, and if we find we are going to try and squeeze in that last day I can add it before the initial 7 day pass is used up? It is only $16 more for that additional day for both parents, but I figured I wouldn't pay for it unless we were going to actually use it.
