Are they still doing the no saving seats at CS meals?

I forgot to mention last month when my family and I were there we did not see them enforcing this rule at Cosmic Ray's in the Magic Kingdom and Electric Umbrella at Epcot, which was before I went to the Magic Kingdom on December 21st as I said in my previous reply. However since we were eating at both locations just after 11:00 AM they were not that busy, so I guess they didn't need to enforce it during those times. Also we went to those parks the week before Christmas and New Years and I guess that's another reason why.

I was skeptical about this process at first, but we ended up in the situation a few times and it worked out well. As soon as our family had all our food, the people working there asked "how many people" and then pointed out several open tables. We sat right away and ate. Even with sippy cups, etc... it didn't take as long to get settled as I imagined it would.

As with any process change/policy change, I always have to remember that everything is done wtih positive intent. Not every change will satisfy everyone, but if I remember that 99% of people make changes thinking they're making a change for the better, it keeps me calm (I have to say this to myself at work several times a day!!)

It was in force at Pecos Bill's at MK the 2nd week of December. There was a senior CM directing traffic. It worked well for us. The place was packed.

I've seen no seat saving enforced at Pecos Bill's twice - once was President's Day and the park was very, very busy. The other was when we arrived on the day after Thanksgiving and again, the park was very busy. The system seemed to work well for us. DD and Dh waited in line with me. I supposed that if my daughter were young/in a stroller my DH or I would have just waited somewhere out of the way while the other ordered and carried the food.

Thanks everyone for keeping this thread procedural so that it can stay open! Those of you that have seen this policy implemented, where do people without food wait if their groups are large and not everyone could or should be in line?

This was not in effect during xmas week (12-27-1/-1/10). At Sunshine Seasons..there were many people(including me) who acquired a table while DH was in line..this was the norm with almost every party around me doing the same and there was no one regulating anything otherwise. It was very busy and so I don't think that it is only in effect at busy times. Maybe at certain CS?

We saw it in effect at Electric Umbrella during our trip in early Dec., but it was Pop Warner and there were several School field trips at Epcot that day. However, my DDs who clearly were together were allowed to go upstairs and get a table as the CM saw us walk in together while DH and I got in line. 1 DD secured the table and the other DD got all the napkins and such.

From what I've heard they only do it at MK, although the previous poster has seen it in force at Epcot - although it doesn't feel like they were enforcing it for their party - maybe they were just trying to direct traffic with a big group of Pop Warner kids present.

I hope that this continues during busy times. We were there in September and had no problem with seating. I don't recall when this was instituted, but didn't really see a need that trip....anyway...we have had trouble from time to time.

Being a single mom, I have had to sit on walls and floors, as well as been told to move because of families that were saving seats while others were in line. I feel that Disney sees the problem with that situation and by instituting this system they are really making things better, overall. As with all changes there are growing pains and tweaking to be done.

I hope, hope, hope that Disney continues this service/policy.

As one who has stood and ate, even using a trash can as my table, I am for this.
However as mentioned I have only seen this at MK during very busy times.
One day during an off time there was a CM greeting guests at the door with a menu. But we could sit wherever we wanted as the place was nearly empty.
Those who are against the policy may want to eat at more off times when this is might not be enforced.
I wish EoS would do this.

Thanks everyone for the info. I'm going in a month and usually we're stressed finding a seat, so I'm happy about the new policy. Did y'all say that CM's are there helping you find a table or directing traffic in places where this is enforced? Are there signs up as well? I just want to know how to be aware they're doing this or not when we eat our CS meals. Thanks!

When we went in late-october, there was no seat saving being enforced. When we went back the week before Christmas they were enforcing the no seat saving at Cosmic Rays in MK. At actually worked pretty well. When we finally got our food (almost 20 minutes!) seats had opened up.

We were just there the first week of December and they did not enforce the rule, and I am guessing they are going to enforce it more when we go back during Spring break . However, I am very glad to see that it worked out well for you, I'm not really sure what to expect (especially having to deal with my 8 and 6 year old in line with me while I am trying to order .

You wont' know until you get there. It's implemented on a day to day basis depending on whether it's thought the restaurant is crowded enough to need it.
