Are they rethinking BCV studios after BWV rehab reaction?

Just wondering if one of the reasons BCV isn't happening on time is the complaints about the BWV studios.

The table in front of the TV seems really unworkable.

I thought that too and even wondered about the slow down in the BWV refurb. Would be nice if they would leave some of the BWV studios to sleep 4. I thought a good compromise would be standard/boardwalk view sleep 4 and garden view sleeps 5. This would give the garden view a perceived value (at least to some) since they use the same # of points as BW view. But no one asked me....

I think that is a good idea but I would be shocked if it ever happens. I wonder if Disney ever gathers input from members about these changes before proceeding? Since member dues pay the refurb costs, it would seem like a good idea to ask home resort owners for opinions.

They did it at VWL before BWV so that didn't stop them. I don't know how many complaints they have vs people happy to have a bed for the 5th person.

The bwv refurb is barely 50% complete now. We were there 6 days ago. They have only one floor of the standard studios done--5th floor. Nothing else has begun yet in the building where the standard rooms are. They were working on the 2nd floor of the other wing that is closest to swan. I read they were starting on Boardwalk view and some with reservations are being relocated to preferred view rooms. We are booked in a standard studio in 3 weeks, so watching the progress.

I will be there in early December in a studio garden view. I have made a request for the Village Green [my favorite area]. Should my request be honored, does anyone know if those have been refurbed yet? I would like to have a new fresh room if at all possible. :snooty:

that would've been perfect for us :thumbsup2 2 adults in a studio for almost 2 weeks need a dresser - we're hoping for an unrefurbed studio (BW view) next week.

Oh, boy-I hope you're right! The thought of that possibility does take a little edge off my frustration about the delay. And when I'm there in a couple weeks, if my room isn't in very great condition, I'll be a little less angry. But heck, I'll still be angry!

I think the delay is VWL

DVD owns ~3% of resorts so they can set aside rooms during refurbs. Since VWL was quickly green-lighted, they needed the ability to move VWL guests out ... And since they had BCV rooms set aside, it was easy to offer old BCV rooms as an option to VWL guests

I agree, there was no way they were going to have THREE resorts under construction. Plus I think they underestimated the construction at BWV. I thought it was due to be done by the end of the year, but after my visit last week, and conversations, it's not due to be done until April 2016, but believe that includes painting the outside too. I was shocked to see BCV studios not available for May. I normally can grab a room there at the 7 month window, but not this time. I think with VWL under construction, people are bailing out over there.

IMO DVC doesn't really care what members think. The rooms will be occupied if the rooms are rehabbed, not rehabbed or painted orange.

The BCV delay was probably due to needed inventory as they blocked BWV rooms for the rehab there and moved guests from VWL and WL for the construction there. We were booked at VWL and they offered to move us to BCV.

I completely agree with both of these thoughts.

I hadn't even thought about the no dresser issue.

Where are 5 people supposed to put their stuff?

They have added a small dresser to both VWL and BWV so not completely without drawer space.

Bill, I'm not necessaarily disagreeing with you only taking a slightly modified approach. IMO DVC isn't worried about a given member or even group of members complaining but they are going to pay attention where there are real trends that complaints bring out. I've always been amused when people came here and similar places stating they were going to complain with the basic attitude that DVC would automatically change something due to that single person complaining.

IMO they only care if it hurts sales. If the issues were picked up in the media or somehow in a forum larger than the DIS. They don't seem to do things because they should or because they want to run a timeshare that is well kept. We continue to report negative issues as if they don't know about them already. I really had a wake up call when a member satisfaction CM was honest and told me that they don't have any power over the resorts and all they do is make note of our contacts and that little if anything get done from us contacting them.

VWL also has a nice, big drawer in the ottoman, but it looks like BWV just gets an open coffee table.
By hotel room standards, the both seem to have decently-sized closets. (But, again VWL gets 2 closets vs 1 in BWV ... That might be the only advantage of VWL studios connecting to 1BR in the living room vs connecting near the hallway door.)

VWL studio with 2 closets? We've never had that in a studio there. It's been the exact same layout as BWV with both connecting in the living area and one closet by the bathroom sink. BCV has at least some, if not all that connect by the entry door if your thinking of those but I'm not remembering if there were 2 closets.
