Would anybody really pay an extra 1200.00 just to make there DW or DH happy ? When there is really no valid reason for not flying out of PHL other then I don't want to.
Last I told her was ,
What happens if the prices don't go down from NY and the price from PHL is no longer available ? Cause I'm not driving !!
She doesn't want to fly out of PHL, I don't want to drive.
Tanks All, but it looks like DW is dead set against flying out of anywhere but ISP, maybe LGA.
So I quess I'm driving, we usually stop in SC, I'd like to get to GA before I stop.
Can anyone recommend a good exit on I95 in GA ?

Our August flights, in comparison, were $868 out of Syracuse, NY. Syracuse for our Christmas dates was over $1500.
What about her flying out of the expensive airport, and the rest of you flying out of the smart one.
I encourage you to use that fancy search tool I listed, as it is really good. For instance, I found the following (15Feb is Fri, 16Feb Sat)Thanks, just checked it out times are no good.
wastes my whole first day arriving at 4 or 6 pm.
I'm leaving the 22nd, so I only have Sun-thurs and I want a full day Sun, arrive by at least noon.
You were lucky on August fares out of Syracuse. Ours were over $1600 JB from Syracuse. We are watching Syracuse, Albany, Rochester, & Buffalo for President's Week. Also, crazy expensive....hoping we don't have to drive into Pa in Feb for flights, unless alternative is stay home! Gasp!
I encourage you to use that fancy search tool I listed, as it is really good. For instance, I found the following (15Feb is Fri, 16Feb Sat)
- US: 15Feb 6:30pm from HPN to MCO (via CLT) $399
- US: 16Feb 6:20am from ISP to TPA (via DCA) $377
- US: 16Feb 12:00pm from JFK to MCO (via CLT) $398
- AA/US: 16Feb 12:15pm from JFK to MCO (via DCA) $357
- US: 16Feb 3:30pm from LGA to MCO (via CLT) $398
- AA/DL: 16Feb 4:35pm from LGA to MCO (via ATL) $386
- US: 16Feb 5:15pm from ISP to MCO (via DCA) $400
Yep, lots of options. Now if you lived here in the Pacific Northwest, you wouldn't have so many options (and I didn't even list those from EWR, SWF, HVN, and a couple others).
Good luck, and enjoy the drive
These were just a fraction of the search results. Tons at any time during the daylight hours go to and coming from multiple airports within 40 miles of Long Island.
Wow, that would be a heck of a layover, huh?thanks, but am i doing something wrong here.
I checked into this and the flight for 377.00 leaves 6:20 am on the 16th and arrives the 18th.
That would not work at all
Wow, that would be a heck of a layover, huh?
I just rechecked (ISP to TPA), and the single connection for under $400 isn't there. Now it is showing $383 with two connections (via DCA on US, DL to ATL then TPA) depart and arrive on 16 Feb.
AA/US is showing from LGA to TPA via CLT for $387 and a few others leavening the evening of the 16th.
When you bring up the ITA matrix website, type in ISP into the departing (clicking the "nearby" word to the right to add other airports), then enter MCO into the deatination (click on "nearby" beside the box to add additional airports), choose an outbound and return date (play with the other boxes around it as desired or use the calendar option below it). Then click "search" at the bottom.
When I ran the initial search, I used ISP as the foundation, clicked "nearby" and clicked on all the presented options (likely for 50 mile radius), and I did the same for MCO. In addition, I chose 15 Feb and chose "+/- one day" from the time options, then did the same for departure.
It provided lots of combinations. ISP has quite a few still under $402 with one or two connections on the 16th.
ETA: If you have a smart phone, you can download the ITA app for free. When you do a search, you can save it in the Itineraries tab (on the app). This allows you to check the new prices quickly. For our Nov trip, I saved several flight options, then checked daily (or sometimes more often) quickly. Once the price dropped to my tolerance, I looked it up on the airline's website.
Again, thanks for looking and trying to help.
My 2 DD's and DW had a sit down last night and we talked her into PHL
So it's PHL to MCO direct for a total of 918.00
I'll probably leave the 16th, get a room at the airport for the night (flight leaves at 7 am) arrives at 9:35, should be at AK by 11:00.
Then of we go to MK![]()
What airlines are you flying on? I'm looking to fly out of BOS, MHT or PVD and flights are ridiculous. Driving alone with 3 kids was my backup, but maybe I'll drive to PHL, park and fly, and drive back. That may be more doable!
Using the same ITA Software matrix/site/app that Greysword keeps advocatingWhat airlines are you flying on? I'm looking to fly out of BOS, MHT or PVD and flights are ridiculous. I'd book them now on Southwest and then compulsively check to see if the price goes lower! I do that all the time.
