Are they changing platinum Castaway Club status?

We just really did not like the 4 day cruises we took. We felt like we had just gotten on the ship and settled then it was time to pack up and leave. I have explored the BTB once but the price was significantly more than the 7 day so we didn't go that route and I don't believe I looked again. BTB has appeal because 2 days on CC sounds awesome. Any how this upcoming cruise will probably be our last anyway. Kids are getting older and would like to try something else.
The 2 days at CC was the main reason we did a couple of B2Bs. The extra cruises toward platinum were a bonus.

We always book the same cabin so we dont have to repack. We are only off the boat a couple of hours on turnaround day so we dont find it as bad as everyone describes.

We seem to find the 7 day cruises are more expensive for us so we dont do as many of them.

I would like them to change the levels to days spent on the boat and not number of cruises taken. For us we have taken mostly 7 day cruises and have spent just as many days or more on the cruise ship as a Platinum cruises who have only ever done 3 or 4 day cruises. We have spent 35 days on the ship where as someone who took 10 3 days cruises would of spent less. I know I have read threads before about people taking a 3 day just to make platinum. Great for them, stinks for us.
I totally agree and thought about mentioning this. We have 24 days, and before long it will be 38 and we are still silver! It doesn't seem quite fair in some ways and I do not want to take cruises just to to move up, especially being on the west coast. I was thinking it might be nice to give double credit for 10 day and longer cruises.

I hear you, by the time we'd done 5 cruises, we had 53 days. After completing 10, we had 90 days cruising DCL.

Unfortunately, the idea to switch the criteria from # of cruises to # of days has often come up in the past. I doubt that DCL is going to make any changes that way. Each cruise line sets up their loyalty program the way it works best for them.

Maybe they could make a new set of levels based on # of days after you've reached Platinum.

I was never for this route before but the more I think about it the more it does make sense.

I was just on the Wonder for the 7 day PR southern Caribbean cruise a couple weeks ago. There were over 200 platinum cruisers. My husband was upset that the wait time for the platinum line at the port was longer than those in Gold and silver.

We just finished our 10th cruise a few weeks ago - finally making platinum status (after a canceled cruise due to Hurricane Irma which delayed us a bit).

Our future cruises we have booked still say we are gold. We emailed DCL to see about our status and they emailed us back that the update to platinum will take place after our 11th cruise...

Is this a new policy? We always thought it was after your 10th.

Not a huge deal, but we are going on the British Isles cruise in September and very excited - that would be the only one we really would like to be able to be platinum so we can book some excursions early.
The same thing happened to my daughter. Our last cruise was suppose to be her first time cruising platinum (her 11th cruise) and they said after that sailing was when she was supposed to go platinum. It didn’t sound right to me.

Maybe they’ll create a new “double platinum” or “unobtainium” level then those people can shoot for something else. Want to get on first, book concierge :-)

I wonder if situations like this isn't why they've done away with the reception. There's no way to fit 200 platinum families, plus assorted gold families into one reception.

On the NYC sailing over Thanksgiving, it was really interesting how many first-time cruisers I spoke with. I think Disney could absolutely sail out of New York City for a bigger chunk of the year and pull and lots of new cruisers. From the company's perspective, they probably like those new cruisers. None of us cranky platinum's complaining about how "it used to be "… :)

Another higher level with an extra perk or two would be fantastic! Maybe a second Palo dinner, nice reduction on Remy brunch or dinner if that's your pleasure, 1/2 price on any excursion, etc. etc. It would not break their bank but would be a welcome extra for loyal cruisers to look forward to.

I agree that there should be something different after 20 or 25 cruises. Platinum Plus?
