Are they blocking entire decks or spreading out.

I’m looking at booking a last minute sailing it would be IGT. Looking at the deck plans it can be anywhere including deck one. I was logically thinking that if they have to sail with reduced capacity anyways are they to maybe blocking off entire decks or sections? Or are they distributing guests all over the place? We are looking at the magic

They are distributing wherever.

We had 2 cabin changes (but on the Dream) when we booked a specific cabin :P

I have no idea how they decide how to distribute passengers. The original room we were in and the first room we were changed to were not utilized during our trip.
I suspect they distribute based upon how many staff (crew) they have available and the amount of time they use to clean the empty cabins.

Lately, the lower decks (1-2) have been blocked off for quarantines and stuff like that. The rest are open. However, rooms seem to be clumped together. I think they're just trying to balance lifeboats and distribute staterooms hosts appropriately with the reduced capacity.

Last I knew they were not using decks 1 or 2 for regular passenger rooms. Those are used for crew to spread out and also for guest quarantine rooms.

Quarantine rooms are a consideration, but they also have to balance life boats. The room you want may not be the room you get if there is no space in the life boat.

We sailed last month on the fantasy. We were on deck 9 in the aft. The cabins on either side of our cabin were occupied. And no others back there were.

Good to know.. That is what I was thinking too when I saw those on deck one and the health clinic is right there. would be a good idea not to use those rooms.

I sailed OGT last month and was placed on deck 6, which seems unlikely unless deck 1 and 2 had been blocked (because those decks are cheaper). Also, my cruise Facebook group hosted some exchanges, and I never saw anyone listed as being on deck 1 or 2.

I did notice that my whole deck did seem to be occupied, because there were so many door decorations (HOTHS cruise). There were no big gaps that I noticed.
