Are these restaurants good choices? Any changes you would make???

I am having some second thoughts about the restaurants I have booked for our trip in January 2011. We do not have the park hopper option, so I will also say what day we will be in each park. We also have the dining plan, so cost is not an issue!!

Day 1: Magic Kingdom (Dinner - Crystal Palace)
Day 2: MGM (Lunch - Sci-Fi Dine In Theater)
Day 3: Epcot (Dinner - Coral Reef)
Day 4: AK (Dinner - Boma)
Day 5: MK (Breakfast - Chef Mickey's)
Day 6: Epcot (Dinner - Le Cellier)
Day 7: MGM (Dinner - 'Ohana)

I am definitely keeping Crystal Palace, Boma, Chef Mickey's, Le Cellier and 'Ohana. I'm unsure about Sci-Fi and Coral Reef. Thoughts on the food, environment, and diversity of the places I've chosen???

Thanks!

i think the coral reef has gone down hill.
we have been almost every trip and this past september was not so good,

BUT if you have young kids it is nice for the aquarium, but the food is average

we love chefs de france in epcot

These all look good to me. I DO love The Brown Derby at MGM. Very different atmosphere from Sci-Fi though...

I'm now questioning my character breakfast decision. I've been to Chef Mickey's and have enjoyed the food. I've read Cape May's is better food and better atmosphere??? It is only going to be myself and my boyfriend (both 23), so no kids...

If we don't do Coral Reef, what other restaurant either in Epcot or on the boardwalk would be the best alternative choice?

Kouzzina or Chefs De France...
I'd take Cape May breakfast over CM any day..in fact, you couldn't pay me to go back to CM

If you want good seafood, splurge a little and go to Flying Fish on the Boardwalk. After dinner catch a street performer or 2 and head over to JellyRolls for a night of singing and drinking. I am 26 and she is 23 and we both said that our FF and JR night was the best night of our last trip. Try to get to JR by 9-9:30 so you can get a table.

As for the other ADR's you made, I am going to be in the minority and say that besides Boma and maybe CM breakfast, I wouldn't keep any of them. Sci-Fi is pretty cool and worth checking out once for the atmosphere, the food and menu are just not good or appealing IMO. 'Ohana and Le Cellier are 2 of the most overrated restaurants I have ever been to. 'Ohana the meats are overcooked, the sides taste like they were frozen and the service is awful (did give it a few tries before realizing it is what it is and what it is is not good) and Le Cellier is nothing more than a glorified Outback. The food at our last 2 visits to CP tasted cold and like it had been sitting out for a long time, the character interaction was disappointing to say the least.

While it is a nice atmosphere, I must agree with a poster above that I do not think it is near as good as it used to be. I went for the third time in late September (first 2 were years earlier) and decided that it would probably be the last....

What would you choose in place of Coral Reef? Either in Epcot or around the park (like on the Boardwalk or in a close resort)?

I just had a great meal at Coral Reef last month, after two just average meals there in previous years, so I definatly think that place has gotten better. The link to that review is actually in my signature if you're interested.

Sci-Fi is a fun enviroment, but the food is just average, as is the service. Plus it's really cold in there, and it's dark, (which I get is part of the theme,) but it's hard to read the menus, and gets annoying by the end of the meal, when you can barely see your food.

ETA - If you were to cancel Coral Reef for anything I'd go to Kouzzina at the Boardwalk resort.

Well, we love Coral Reef and go every year. Maybe we always hit them on "good" nights??

There are many great restaurants at Epcot. We LOVE :lovestruc Tutto Italia, Teppan Edo, & Le Cellier, and I would like to try the new Mexican Restaurant as well. On the Boardwalk there is Kouzzina, also Yachtsman's Steakhouse at the Yacht Club resort.

Day 1: Magic Kingdom (Dinner - Crystal Palace) Way too salty, the food was just terrible and the noise level was ridiculous
Day 2: MGM (Lunch - Sci-Fi Dine In Theater) Very good, we have been there a few times and have always enjoyed the food and atmosphere
Day 3: Epcot (Dinner - Coral Reef) I really enjoyed my grouper but DH didnt like his steak and my nieces didnt like their meals either. The atmosphere is nice, would not mind trying lunch, but it can be very chaotic with all the people trying to see the tank
Day 4: AK (Dinner - Boma) While we love breakfast we didnt enjoy dinner at all, the food was just too sweet with vanilla and cinnamon
Day 5: MK (Breakfast - Chef Mickey's) Excellent food, great character interaction, now our fave over CP and Cape May
Day 6: Epcot (Dinner - Le Cellier) Never had a bad meal here, love the filet
Day 7: MGM (Dinner - 'Ohana) I thought it was ok, DH didnt like it at all...the dessert was the best part. The fun and games is pretty good for kids but for 2 adults it can get old real fast

Never been to Coral Reef so I can't comment on that one.:confused3

As for Sci-Fi, we were very nonplussed about our meal there. The atmosphere was cute (but my kids didn't understand all of the movie trailers) and the food was just ok IMHO. The TS I would pick in DHS is definetly 50's PTC.:thumbsup2 We all loved their comfort food--meatloaf, fried chicken, pot roast, etc.

Even though you've had CM before for breakfast, I would keep it because it's so convenient to be right next to MK for your touring.

Hope this helps and have a great trip.:goodvibes

CM, YUCK.
Boma, yummy!
Coral Reef, loved it.
Le Cellier, yummy.
Sci Fi, overrated.
O'Hana, ok if you have kids, but you don't so skip it.
Crystal Palace, never again (it's gone waaaaay downhill)

Other's suggested Chefs de France, I hated the place.
I would try Via Napoli or Yachtsman.

Here's what I would do: cancel CP and CM, and instead do Kona Cafe and Grand Floridian Cafe (breakfast or dinner; both are good at each). Instead of Coral Reef, I'd try the new Mexican restaurant, La Hacienda de San Angel I think its called. Its new but I've only seen good reviews and - can't wait to try it in 2 weeks. We do Ohana and Sci Fi every trip so I would keep those. We love the reuben and onion rings at Sci Fi.

Love Coral Reef....love LeCellier & my favorite restaurant of all is LeCellier.

Tusker House Safari breakfast is also great
.

The Sci-Fi is way overrated. The food is average at best and the whole "Movie Theme" is ok if you like watching the same clips over and over and over again, at a very loud volume. Eating in the dark is a real pain and the service was one of the worst that we've had. My husband and kids will never willingly go back to that place. Definitely do the Brown Derby or 50's Prime Time if you are able to change at this point.

I like Rose and Crown and also the one in Germany(Biergarden) over oral Reef I am going to try the Clam Bake at the Beach Club this year for dinner one night and the Yachtman's Steakhouse for another night. First time for these for me but they come highly reommeded from the people on the Dis.

I have to laugh when I read all the posts.:rotfl:

Everyone has such different opinions on places and their experiences. So I guess you should think about what it is you really like and try to review some of the menus on ALL EARS and get some direction on what everyone will eat.

So, to add to the confusion....I mean suggestions:lmao:...here are mine:

CM - Just OK. Not impressed really.

Boma - A dining adventure! Something for everyone, and foodies too. Zebra domes!

Coral Reef - Hated it! (The food, the service, the wait time, the management, the seating....) The only Disney place I really have NOTHING good to say. If you are looking for a good seafood restaurant that evening, take a short boat ride over to the Boardwalk and enjoy some quality seafood at the Flying Fish. It is a signature restaurant, but well worth it! I highly recommend the snapper.:thumbsup2 Also, the whole family will enjoy the entertainment on the boardwalk as a bonus.

Le Cellier - Great steaks and good service. Excellent meal from beginning to end.

Sci Fi - kinda cheesy and I'm not talking abut the food. We like Brown Derby, but it is a signature restaurant and if your not looking for a super expensive meal try 50's Prime Time. They have decent food and some dining fun with the staff interaction.

O'Hana - We have always enjoyed Ohana. If you like meat, you will to, cause you get a lot of it! We also enjoy Kona for more variety.

Crystal Palace - We have never been there for dinner, but LOVE:love: it for breakfast every trip!

The only place I would really strongly suggest in changing is Coral Reef. (That is my opinion)

Good luck, let us know what you decide!

I agree with Flying fish being excellent!
but i love chefs de france in epcot also!

cant go wrong with either!!
