Just wondering if I need my change cup. I don't remember tolls there at all, but I wanted to make sure. Flying into Sanford and renting a car from there.

Thanks!

some roads - yes .... need to check the maps

Looking at the map, you would have some tolls. If you take I-4, you might have a small amount to use 417 to get to I-4. There might be a way to avoid the tolls with the side streets. 25th Street or Lake Mary Blvd look like they go straight over to I-4.

If you take 417 south around Orlando (and the traffic) and past MCO to get to WDW, there would be quite a bit more in tolls. Not sure how much they will be, though.

If you are traveling from Sanford to Disney on Route 417, the tolls are about $5 each way. They are $1 or $2 tolls at each booth. We just traveled this route on June 4, so that is currently accurate.

I'm sorry...but when I read this question...all I could do was:

Florida is the Land of The Tolls....

As people have told you - there WILL be tolls. You should plan on anywhere from $3 to $5 each way.

You are better off to take 417 and pay the tolls. Not a lot of traffic on that road.

417, 408, 528 & the turnpike are all toll roads. My advice is to stay off of I-4 if you can, especially during rush hour - any time between 7 -9 a & 3-6p. I looked at buying a house near the Sanford airport, so I know where you are coming from. I would advie taking the 417 all the way to the parkway or to 528, depending on where you are going/staying. i know there is a $2 toll around the bridge on 417 out of Sanford. It is worth it however.

I work in Ovideo (about 12 mi south of Sanford) and live over by Universal. I take the 417 & 408 (luck me goes against traffic) and only a little bit of I-4.

Get a trip-tik from AAA or go to map quest. The 417 is not used as much as I-4, so you have less accidents.

I have a house in Deltona which is about 5 minutes north of Sanford so I can also help.

Fron Sanford Airport you have 2 choices SR417 or I4. SR 417 is indeed a toll road. It's about $6.00 from Sanford to Disney if you stay on 417 the entire way. The road is indeed less traveled so it's usually faster most times. If you like the I4 way, from the airport stay on Lake Mary Blvd for about 8 miles. You will then get onto I4. If you use I4 during the rush hours, be prepared to wait. Off times, it's usually OK. I use it frequently when there but I try to avoid it from 6am to 10am and from 3pm to 6pm.

When I come from/to MCO, I always use SR417 It's just easier.

NOTE: Only the main toll booths on 417 are manned 24/7. The exit booths are exact change only from 4pm to 8am. Exit/Entrance tolls range from .25 to 1.00 depending on where you get off/on

Just be sure to have some quarters with you, in addition to dollar bills! Twice now my DH had to drive through unmanned toll booths because we didn't have the required $.50. We never carry change with us-NEVER, so we weren't prepared for the unmanned booths. Sorry, State of FL! At least they haven't attempted to track us down through our car rental license plate......
