Are there standard rooms for 5 on Carnival Cruise?

My family and I are looking into our very first cruise. I've been told Carnival is a good one to go on for first time cruisers . If anyone has a different opinion, I'd love to hear it. DH and I have 3 children 16,12 and 3.

Max is 4 in a standard room. My step daughter took her family of 5 this summer and they had to get 2 rooms.

Usually on other cruise lines besides Disney you usually need to get two staterooms to accommodate a family of 5, some do have suites that can hold 5 but it can be pricey. The plus side is you get two bathrooms the down side is you pay full fare for 4 passengers vs Disney family verandas only charge full for the first 2 and the three kids are cheaper. I’d price all the cruise lines to see what fits into your schedule based on where you want to depart. As a family of 5 myself Caribbean cruises can be cheaper on DCL than getting two rooms, other itineraries on DCL are usually more expensive.

Carnival ships have staterooms will accommodate 5 in multiple categories. Royal Caribbean has some staterooms that accommodate 6 or more, as does Disney. Other cruise lines may have limited numbers of staterooms that will sleep 5 or more.

I've sailed Carnival and liked it least of the five cruise lines I've sailed. OP, I'd head over to Cruise Critic and start researching.

As others have said, you could get a suite that sleeps 5. It might end up costing less that paying for 2 rooms and would have some convenient perks.

I sailed carnival and we had a good time but I will say the crowd is very different from royal Caribbean

Check out the cruise critic forums. I would book 2 rooms and put you with the 3 yo in one room and the teens in the other room. We always book 2 rooms on cruises cause it gives us privacy and more space plus an extra bathroom. My kids are tween/teen and they were fine in their own cabin which was across the hall from us. We did get duplicate keys and we did have to book 1 adult and 1 child in each room and then we swapped when we boarded.

Don’t be hesitant to call the cruise line. The reps can be very helpful. Or use a travel agent. We did that many moons ago for our first cruise.

We cruise alot. Mostly Carnival. Been cruising since the kids were 6 and 8. They are now 21 and 23. Have sailed on RCCL and NCL also. We still go back to Carnival. Our family likes it better -especially the new Mardi Gras, so many free dining options. We have always done 4 in a room - but really, we are in the room to sleep and get ready so it has never bothered us. Carnival has a great kids program - but I think RCCL does as well.

Going on the new Carnival Celebration in December. Can't wait. I would call Carnival (or whatever cruise line you decide and see what ships have rooms for 5, as that will definitely be cheaper or get 2 rooms and then have 2 bathrooms also).
