Are there Resorts you like, but realize you will not stay there because of something?

One of the WDW Resorts I have always liked is the Boardwalk and in the past I have thought of asking my family if we ever wanted to stay there. In fact we talked about staying there before planning our December trip. However the one negative we saw was their lack of a real counter service location. We like Resorts such as the Contemporary, Polynesian, Grand Floridian and the Wilderness Lodge because they have counter service locations that are inside and have tables so you can eat right there, where as the Boardwalk does not have that and because of that I don't think we would ever stay there. If they ever added on in the future we might changes our minds, but a real counter service location is important to my family and I. I know we stay on Club Level floors so you might say to yourselves your getting all the things they offer, why is a counter service location important to you? If we are ever hanging around our Resort during the day we can have lunch there and sometimes we like to get a bite to eat during the evening, when the Club Level floors are no longer serving food until the next day.

So what are some WDW Resorts that you like, however you realize there is a reason keeping you back from ever staying there?

I can't think of a resort that I like that I wouldn't stay at. None of them are perfect, but if there is something I like about a certain resort I will probably eventually get around to staying there. Actually there aren't too many resorts I like that I haven't stayed in. The Poly is still on my short life of places I'd like to stay but haven't yet. There are a few DVC I'd like to try eventually as well.

I like the Boardwalk and GF, and I used to think we'd get around to staying at both some day. Then we stayed at YC last summer and loved it so much, that I don't know if I can stay anywhere else. We really enjoyed SAB, so I guess the lack of SAB at the other hotels might prevent me from staying at them.

I was concerned about the lack of a food court at BC this May. In fact it was problematic for our family and that is one reason I'm not in a rush to return there again. That and aside from SAB, there isn't any other reason for us to want to stay there instead of on the monorail. We LOVED CR and my husband doesn't want to stay anywhere else, except the Poly if we could get an AP discount. I hope CR gets a food court like the new Captain Cooks. We loved it there when we stopped over for breakfast and lunch on our trip.

I've never found the perfect resort. I've stayed at most of them and at all levels, but depending on each trip and what time of year it was, that would determine where I stayed. Even when hubby was a CM and we got a great discount (for 7 years), I never had a desire to stay at the GF or Poly, even with the 60% holiday discount, just didn't have a desire to stay at either. I rarely stay at the moderates anymore, it's delux or value, for us now. Now it's mostly DVC since we bought in a couple of years ago, but still pay out the cash and stay at the regular ones sometimes if the promotion is good and we want to save our points. Out of the delux, the Contemporary has always been my favorite and WL has always been hubby's favorite. Hopefully one day I'll own a piece of the Contemporary if all goes according to plan. We never mind staying at the value resorts during spring and fall (esp. since each of those trips were 2 week stays), but in the winter it had to be a delux for the hot tub and inside lobby, and in the summer it had to be a delux for the inside lobby and away from the tour groups at the value resorts (been there done that--yikes). This works for us, but Disney has something for everyone, that's what makes it so special.

Would love to stay at the Poly, but I just can't justify the cost. It is just so much more expensive.

Every time I see pics or hear about POR, I think it would be a great choice for a moderate. Unfortunately, we would not try it due to the double beds. All other things about POR are very appealing to me.

I won't stay at Ft. Wilderness Cabins again because of the bus service. YOu have to take one bus to another bus. Drove me crazy with a stroller.

I would love to stay at a Delux, especially Wilderness Lodge or Grand Floridian, but cost will keep me away. Unless I win the lottery or get a Large amoutn in discoutns, there is no way my DH would pay for one. We have only stayed a POP and he thought the price was high then. Of course once we got there he really enjoyed it!

I've liked the GF since it was built, but I can't justify the expense. :sad2: Maybe one day. if (when?) they build a DVC there, I'll go. :confused3

That's one of the side effects of being DVC: our vacations in WDW are some of the least expensive ones we take! :thumbsup2

Animal Kingdom Lodge.

I think it's a beautiful resort.....LOVE the restaurants......incredible views/surroundings......but......the only transportation available is bus service. And it's SOOOO far isolated from everything.

I love the Swan and Dolphin- best beds on property!

But I cannot get DDP -

The GF is probably the only resort I will never stay at. It holds absolutely no appeal to me or my family. If we want a monorail resort we will go with CR or Poly (my personal fav.)

Thats very true. I will most likely never stay at a resort that I can't get the dining plan, unless Disney isn't the main attraction of the trip.

This is exactly what I wanted to say. I love the theming and the pool looks great but we can't do the double bed thing at all. This, in my opinion, makes our choice 2 value rooms or one deluxe room from now on.

I agree with the double bed issue. I have staeyd in PO and POFQ before kids. I would love to stay there again but we would be very uncomfortable with 2 doubles.

My family loved AKL conceirge, but we will never stay there again. Having the lounge on a different floor and the dvc up by the lounge kind of ruins it for me.

Would love to stay at the Poly, but I just can't justify the cost. It is just so much more expensive.

This is how I feel about GF. We visit there at least once each trip.

Another is AKL. I'd love to stay there, but it seems to be so far out of the way to get to the parks. We usually have to go during peak season (I'm a high school librarian). We have enjoyed being able to walk to the parks from CR and the Swan.

I agree about the lack of CS at the BC/YC and BW. It does stink , but the location and love of the resort in general keep us staying there trip after trip.

Mine is the CR. The family and I loved the resort in general. But the pool stinks. My kids are fish so a pool is very important. We would only stay there again if I knew we were going during a cool time and the kids wouldn't be swimming.
