Hi. We are going to WDW in August and I am thinking of treating dh, ds, and myself to DC. I am just wondering since it costs so much money and you have to plan ahead of time for your day/dolphin swim etc., do they give any refunds if the day turns out to be horrible weather or they have to shut down because of lightning. Thank you so much.

My suggestion is if you want to do this, schedule your DC day at the beginning of your trip. That way, if there is bad weather when you arrive, they are generally pretty good at trying to get you in before your vacation is over with.

Thank you. Good to know that they try to accommodate you for that kind of money. I will book it early on.

If it is open and still running they will not usually allow you to cancel. We had to do it in pouring thundery rain for the whole day on one visit and at a record low temp in dec 2000. However, on another visit the temp had dropped to freezing, they were still open and had set up heaters and hot choc stations, and had hot dry towels etc. (as I said we already done a day like this several years before and it was just to cold to enjoy). But this time (2009 jan) my daughter was just recovering from 7 weeks in hospital (including surgery) and there was no way we could spend a day in temps so low. We went in the day before and spoke firstly to the front desk who said there was nothing they could do, we accepted that as its in the terms and cond. but explained that they may as well resell our slots or give them away as we could not go (it was her treat for having been so ill so we were not splitting up as they suggested so that the others could go). While in discussion a manager came over and asked us if we had any proof that she had been ill - we had loads of info from docs (in case she relapsed) along while the 7" recent scar on her tummy. She was very diff to the initial cast member and instantly said no problem we will refund the total amount. It must be very unusual as the cast member left to sort it out had no idea how to do that on her system. 2 points here
1.no you prob can't cancel but you can change the dates but you will have to pay the new dates current price and hope there is still spaces on dates that you can do.
2. Don't go at the same time as us 3 times - 2 at temps about zero over new year time and one in thunder rain all day in july! PS be warned we may be going july 2012.

Double check this...

The last time we went, 3 years ago, the park closed for 2 hours due to storms.

When I spoke with the staff they told me that there is a weather policy. They will reschedule your park visit, not the dolphin interaction, for another day before you leave Florida. This is assuming the park is not sold out. We had already done the dolphin swim, so we were excited that we could return for another full day to enjoy everything else.

If you can't find this written anywhere, give them a call. I am curious if this is still the policy.
