I'm a divorced father of 2 great kids. I'm taking them on the 4/23 Western cruise for 7 days of great fun. While I know there will be plenty to keep the 3 of us busy, my children are ages 11 and 13, so I'm sure I'll be on my own for some of that time. I was just wondering if there were any other single parents cruising. I also wanted to know if others have done this on a Disney cruise and could share their experiences with me.. Thanks Andy

I've cruised a couple of times as a single parent, although when we cruised on Disney my daughter was only 5. I spent SO much time (and money) in the spa! Now that my daughter has reached the ANCIENT age of 8, she doesn't want to cruise Disney anymore. This year will be the second spring break we will spend on Royal Caribbean... but we will stay at WDW first!

My DS (9) and I are cruising on March 13th (4 days) and we can't wait.
:cheer2:

It's our first cruise ever and I think it's going to be a blast.

:moped:

Andy....you are right...you will have alot of alone time lol. I went on two Disney cruises, single parent and although my son spent very little time with me, I still had a wonderful time. I went to the shows alone the first cruise and went into the bar for the adult comedians etc. I had a blast!!!!!

p.s.....i see you live in the philly area....hmmm I am in New Jersey if you want company on the cruise and have room in your suitcase, lmaoooooooo .....

Have a great time!!!!

I spent a lot of time in the spa! We are goign the week after you on the April 30th Eastern!

I'm a single parent. This August will be our 4th DSL cruise. There have been several prior threads on this topic.....you might to do a search. They will have a few meets (lunch, etc.) for single/solo travelers, coordinated by a cast member. I've usually met at least one other single parent traveling. One year they placed us at a table in the dining room with another single parnnt with a child just a few years old than my DD. You may want to go to the MEET thread for the cruise you're going on and see if there will be other single parents. The only thing I have ever missed is going to Palos, as I didn't want to do that alone. In August a bunch of us singles are going to do Palos together. Have fun.....

I'll be on the Oct. 22 cruise with my 5 yr. old son, Seth.
I CAN'T WAIT!!! Good to know there are other single parents braving the seas like me!
:flower:

I'll be there with Seth & Sethsmama :cool1: , along with my 4 yr old DD & 18 yr old DS, my brother/SIL/4 yr old niece, another couple/5 yr old DS. Woohoo!!! Just give me some Sea Calm & an ocean of patience (for my dear son  ).

We'll probably be wishing for some "alone time." :rotfl:

We're booked for Oct. 22nd Western Car. cruise as well. I'm also a single parent traveling with my two kids (DD 11 and DS 10). I can't wait!!!

my DS and I are cruising in August. I look forward to the time away from home.

I have been a single parent for 13 years and 9 months (in August, when my kid officical "comes of age"... God help us all LOL!) and while I cannot compare notes with divorced parents, I can tell you being a single parent is not that bad. Being a single parent on a cruise...I figure on catching a break (after all he isn't going to jump ship, right?)

Don't overthink it or stress, just enjoy the time and let everything else take care of itself.

Sethsmama & Angel51201: Come join us on our Meet thread (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=648120) Marnight is already there and I think there is at least one other "single" already on the thread (at 14 pages so far -I'm not totally sure ...)

Its still a little early :) to actually setup meets, but we are all getting to know one another and I am sure we are going to meet up on board.

On our first cruise, it was so fun knowing a group of people on board - we seemed to run into our new friends everywhere we went and it was a blast!
