Are there new rules with canceling ADRs?

I just tried to cancel ADR for Ohana and Cape May and got a message saying I can't do that online. I went disney chat and was told I have to call to cancel. I ask if there was a list of which restaurants you need to call to cancel and was told there isn't a list. What a waste of time, to have to call and wait to cancel the ADR. I wonder what is the reason behind this.

The same happened to me but it was because I tried to cancel a reservation after the 24 hour mark.

I'm more than a month away, so that timing isn't the issue. I will try again later online.

I was just going to say that it's probably just an issue with MDE. Happens every once in a while when systems are being enhanced.

I just tried again it worked fine. But yet this is what disney chat told me......

: I'm trying to cancel some ADRs online and I get a message I can't cancel them online?

Joanne: Is this new?

Carrina: Hello and Welcome to Disney, Joanne!

Joanne: Hi

Carrina: Some reservations can not be canceled online. Which reservation are you trying to cancel?

Joanne: Ohana and Cape May.

Carrina: Neither of which can be cancelled online. Please call the Disney Reservation Center at 407-939-DINE (3463) and a cast member will be able to further assist you!

Joanne: Is there a list somewhere? I haven't heard of this before.

Carrina: Regrettably there is not a list.

Once again..... Disboards- 1 Disney -0

Ugh - how irritating! She knew instantly that THOSE cant be cancelled online, but can't tell you what else is on the "not online" list. . . . I do like to call for some Disney things, but it has always bugged me thatthey don't have toll free numbers, and of course you never know what your wait time will be.

I find the MDE website is very glitchy! I am able to circumvent many errors, including restrictions to modifying guests and cancelling dining "that cannot be done online" much easier through the MDE app on my iPhone. The only reservations I cannot alter are pre-paid events like Club Villan and the Spirit of Aloha Luau. These just crash the MDE app.

That information from the chat is not correct. You do not have to call to cancel reservations to 'Ohana or Cape May. And there is no "list." There is something wrong with the system at the moment. If you don't want to call, wait and try to cancel them again later.

It's been that way since inception. It's hard to believe it can get any worse but it does.

Exactly. For "leading the way in innovation"....they sure suck at the basic stuff...like a working, up to date website.

If you peruse their career site that always have many openings for web programmers. I know Disney does not pay well and since they also offer the benefit of getting replace by foreign labor the best people probably look elsewhere.

I don't know, unless they are somehow trying to slow down the number of triple-bookers? You know, the folks that book 12 restaurants a day at the 180 day mark and then wait until two days before their trip to cancel 11 of them?

I canceled Ohana early this morning. So strange that the reps don't know what they are talking about. Why not say it is a technical glitch instead of making stuff up?

It's not a new thing. Disney phone reps are notorious for giving out correct information only occasionally.

There are "openings" listed because federal law requires them to post openings before they give the job to someone with an H1B visa. Even if you were the best programmer in the world, with the best resume in the world, and completely qualified to do the job in every way, you wouldn't get an interview as the job is "wired" to go to an H1B visa worker at 1/2 the price a US worker would be paid.

They already put a stop to that long ago. The system only allows you to book one reservation within the dining period..so you cant book a dinner at 5 and another at 6 for example...unless you hit a glitchy day. Certainly cant do 12 in a day.

As said upthread, the chat information isn't accurate. Honestly, I've rarely gotten helpful or accurate information from chat. I don't bother with it anymore.
