Are there little extra's that you would take down for your room?

Hi -- I'm trying to remember what they supply you with in the room....

I'm making my little goodie bag... tea bags, sugar, little packs of jelly, etc.

I don't remember - do they supply you with dish soap?

things like that....

Thanks

Tanya

They do supply you with dish soap and dishwasher detergent. If you run out before Trash & Towel Day, you can request more from Housekeeping.

I do bring laundry tablets and dryer sheets. Laundry supplies are expensive in the laundry rooms (JMHO) and you only get one box of single use Tide in the units that include the washer and dryer.

I also bring salt & pepper, sugar packets, coffee filters, and bar soap & shampoo for the bathrooms. They do provide bar soap and shampoo, but I like to save the "Mickey" stuff for souvenirs for nieces and nephews or Christmas stocking stuffers (My DH thinks I'm nuts for doing that. LOL!)

There's probably other things, but that is all I can think of right now.

Enjoy your trip!

We always take the following extras:

salt
pepper
Lawrys salt
non-stick frying pan w/rubber spatula
king sized fitted sheet for bed
bubble bath for tub

Hope this helps!!

Here are some things I don't forget!
Night light
room freshener
Nifty folding hamper from Walmart
it had wire and mesh and folds flat

these are great ideas for someone who is new to DVC, but one question for Jill. why the king size sheets? Thanks Peggie

We pack a small suitcase with p-butter, jelly, candy, nuts, pringles, coffee and filters, tea bags, drink mix, micro popcorn, etc. for the way down and souvenirs for the way home. We usually bring a couple sets of real silverware if we are staying in a studio and plan to actually eat a meal there.

We always stay in a 1 bedroom that has a king sized bed - Disney (as most hotels) only uses flat sheets for the bottom sheet of the bed.

We like to bring a king sized fitted sheet (only the fitted sheet) to put over the flat sheet that's tucked in to make it the bottom sheet. I'm a restless sleeper, and tend to move around a lot at night. The one time we didn't bring a fitted sheet to put over teh bed, we ended up with most of the bottom sheet around our shoulders, and were lying directly on the bare mattress!

Not everyone has this problem, but I read about teh fitted sheet on these boards, adn tried it when we went down and was VERY happy with the result.

I just went to the local department store, and got whatever fitted sheet was on sale; I made sure to get a color other than white, so we would know and remember it was ours, and so that housekeeping would know too.

If you're in a 1 bedroom, give it a try!

After three visits, our list includes the following:

Paper Napkins
Air freshener for toilet
Dish towels
Ice pack
Bottled Water (buy offsite on the way in)
Blank VCR tape to "time shift" and tapes to watch
Dish Brush
Tide
Scrubby Bubbles
CD portable w/ headphones
Small portable printer to go with laptop (I'm a workaholic)

We generally eat out for lunch and dinner, but will buy some pastry ahead to have in for breakfast. We are not traveling with kids.

In addition to the great things previously mentioned, I also bring a laundy stain stick, paper/plastic cups for the bathroom, a couple ofvery carefully packed ketchup packets(kids won't eat hot dogs without it), and clorox cleaning wipes.

Oh yeah - band aids - lots of band aids.

I restock at the restaurants in the park for salt/pepper, sugar, etc.

In addition to many of the above, we bring a citrinella candle for the porch, extra batteries of various sizes, zip lock bags that always come in handy for snacks, extras, packing, etc, a pair of sissors, a spray bottle of anti baterical kitchen spray cleaner, (these sometimes work as glass cleaner, and us with kids and fingerprints appreciate this on the patiio doors) coffee filter, microwave popcorm packets, seasonal and holiday decorations like lights for patio at Xmas, a themed table runner, egg decorating supplies etc, If we are to miss a special Holiday at home I always pack a bit of their favorites for tradition sakes.

We bring Brita water bottles. We used to buy water at the supermarket to take to the parks. This is better because the filter allows you to fill the bottle wherever you are. Also you can carry them empty to the parks and fill them when you want a drink. I always order my groceries from Netgrocer.com and I make sure to order tissues. There are never enough around for a family with allergies and the tissues they have are a little rough.

Stuff to take with you 'cause it is much cheaper to buy at home and or you'll need it.

  • Cork screw to open wine. (You can buy wine all over the resorts and in the various countries at Epcot.)
Film, Camera Batteries, Video gear, charger, cords, tapes.
Extension cord with multi plug end for all your camcorder and other electronic junk.
Foot care stuff, powder, band aids, good socks, etc...
Rain Poncho (Hint at the first drop of rain Disney will sell thousands of yellow ones with Mickey on the back. If you pack some other color it will be much easier to spot your family.)
    Butt or Back pack.
Packaged snacks, granola bars, Kudos, nuts, crackers etc. Take enough to carry two or three per person per day, don't forget those travel days.
    Autograph books.
    Big sharpies.
Stamps and addresses for post cards.
Stroller, If flying use it in airport and check it at the gate.
    Small soft cooler for stroller
Packaged moist towels like handy wipes.
Assorted sizes of zip lock bags
H2O filter pitcher to refill bottles
(freeze a bottle at night and it provides cold drinks all for a long time)

But when we make our grocery stop, we usually buy an inexpensive bunch of flowers for the room. Really feels like home, then!

Reading all these great posts, reminded me again that I left our queen size sheet in a Studio at OKW. I told my self that there is no way I would forget to take it.. and I did.. After 10 or so trips taking a King size, I can't believe I forgot the queen size one this time.

Do you all purchase a color sheet to remind you to take it?? or are you like me, I bought a white one so it would match.. duh!?? I had thought of putting our name and address on the sheet, do you think we would get it back?

I made sure I bought a fitted sheet that was NOT white - it's hard to forget that it's your sheet when it's forest green! That just happened to be what was on the clearance rack, but I was glad when I saw it, since I didn't want white.

Mikesmom,
Actually that doesn't sound silly at all, it sounds like a really nice idea.
I have only stayed at a studio at BW so far, but would like to stay in a 1 br next trip since we'll have baby with us by then. Great suggestions everyone! The citronella candle idea was also a good move.

In addition to most of the above items-I take a good pot/pan scrubber.....I like the metal mesh ones.

It all depends on if we are flying or not as to what we are able to bring.

If we fly we take:
A couple travel candles (in tins) with a lighter
Maxwell House coffee packs (with the coffee & filter in one)
Crystal Light Lemonade (doesn't take much room and makes 8 qts)
Equal and flavored creamer (Coffeemate Hazelnut is my favorite)
Microwave popcorn
TV Guide
Laundry Tablets
Bubble Bath

If we drive we add these to the list:
Non-stick Fry pan & plastic pancake turner
Pam
Placemats for the table (since they are no longer provided)
Fresh Fruit to put in the large bowl provided for the center of the table
Salt & Pepper
A basket with greenery to put on the coffee table (husband thinks I'm nuts)
Couple bottles of wine and cork screw
Fabric Softner
409 (or some type of spray cleaner)
Tongs for grilling
Extra candles (for patio & jacuzzi tub)

If we drive we stop at one of the grocery stores and pick-up breakfast, lunch , and grilling items.

Eva,
I don't think you're nuts at all! I can't wait to see you next week at our little mini-meet on 5/24. Thanks for the great list. I'll use it with my packing since we are driving down and taking the Autotrain. See ya next week! :) ;)
