Are there ever "room" upgrades on DVC?

Just wondering if you book a room with a pool view at AKV, do you ever get an upgrade like you do sometimes with regular ( meaning non DVC) rooms?

DVC usually doesn't upgrade unless there is a problem with your room and there's no others of that category to send you to.

Can you actually book a pool view room at AKV? I didn't know that was/would be a booking category, but I haven't been following the AKV info too closely.

They say all Jambo Standard view is pool view. Kidani standard may be pool or parking lot..

Occasionally if you are paying cash. But on points, seldom if ever.

A couple of years ago I had a studio booked at OKW, and was given a 2-BR at check-in, with no particular explanation why. Didn't complain, though

We booked 1 night in a 1BR at BCV one time and got a 2 BR when we checked. It does happen, but VERY, VERY RARELY. I would say the chances increase with very short stays.
