Are there ever deals/sales on ABD trips?

I've become obsessed with stalking prices on trips I've booked, and have had great luck getting rates adjusted on cruises, Disney trips, hotels, car rentals, etc. We've got an ABD Montana trip booked for this summer. Do ABD trips ever go on "sale" (such that I should be checking prices regularly), or do they only go up? We did book right when itineraries came out, so we got a little price break from booking early. Didn't know if I might get lucky with some special pricing! Thanks!

ABD trips *do*, on occasion, go on sale. Usually if they have some trips that aren't selling well, and they're hoping to fill them up. It's rare, but it does sometimes happen. But I have *NEVER* heard of them adjusting the price on an existing reservation to match a current sale. In fact, the sales always say they are valid for new bookings, only. The only way a sale might benefit you is if you save enough that forfeiting your deposit (which is non-refundable after 14 days) is less than the amount you save by cancelling your old reservation and re-booking it under the sale price.

If you figure out some other way to get your rates adjusted by ABD after a trip goes on sale, I know there are a TON of people on this board who would love to know how you did it! I know I would!

You can book through Costco and at least get money back/Costco Cash. So far that's the best I've been able to track down.

Yes, that's actually a really good way to get money back on a reservation! But if you've already booked an ABD, you can't then re-book it through Costco and get their discount. You have to do the initial reservation through them. The OP was asking about price reductions on an existing reservation.

......sometimes the price gets more expensive as time goes on........I've never seen the price go down.

ABD trips are cheapest when they are first released. The price will only increase from there as the trips fill up. If they are having trouble filling a trip, they may put a discount on NEW bookings only but it's usually not that much.

They did this for some of the Europe trips this year. I think it was $250 per person off if you booked before the New Year. But the price with that discount was still hundreds more per person than I paid by booking when the itineraries were initially released. (We got the early booking discount plus the price was at the opening-day low).

$250 per person off a $5000+ trip is not much incentive.
